I have a 3 GHz P4 with 512 DDR2 RAM ATI X600Pro 256 RAM PCI Express. I can play the single player. I go to a Mutiplayer room and play for a couple mins and my machine freezes. I have the latest Drivers for the hardware and I have Direct X9c. I have unistalled and reinstalled COD and COD UO. I disable all applications when I go to the game and it still locks up. No errors at all. Just hard locks my machine. I have to power off once it happens.
The problem is your latest drivers for your ATI Video Card.
ATI Catalyst 4.10 has a glitch and your game will, will freeze no question.
Download ATI Catalyst 4.9 driver and you should be fine.
That's not surprising. ATI has had a long history of buggy, crappy drivers. Heck, for 3 years straight their drivers would not properly communicate with the monitor and set the refresh rate, and people using ATI cards had to play all of their games at the default refresh rate of their monitor because when the game loaded, the video card drivers returned the refresh rate to the monitor's default refresh rate, which sux because it has flicker. Thousands of users emailed ATI about it and almost none of them even got a response from ATI. That's great customer service eh? There are many forums on the Net in which users complain about that long-standing problem.
I played RTCW at 60hz refresh rate for 2 years because of that. Then I got an NVIDIA card and no more crappy drivers or default refresh rate. To me, ATI stands for "Always Too Iffy". lol
