Guys-- I'm experiencing significant problems with CODUO. When loading the game (and while playing the game) Window Task Mgr bounces between 87-99% PCU and Performance reads 100% and Page File UIsage is 400+. Obviously, the game lags, freezes, and becomes completely impossible to play. When we exit the game, all things return to normal and the PC performs normal. I'm running an Compac ACPI Uniprocessor PC, Intel (R), Pentium 4 CPU, 1500 MHZ, 1.50 GHZ, 512 MB RAM. I am also operating on Windows XP Professional 2002 w/service pack 2. I'm also using GeForce4 MX 440 w/AGP8X. Any assistance you can provide to get me back to the front would be appreciated. Regards, BigDaddyBill

For one its your video card, being a 64mb card and the game requires a minimum of 128 to run properly, you can though use a 64 mb video card, just turn down all the settings in the options to low.

i think your right angel_eyes. also, however, i think that the cpu usage might indicate the prescence of spyware. have you scanned your pc for spyware?

Thanks for the input, guys. A little feedback. We (three users in the same house) have played the game for a long time and have never had any problem with performance. We would turn off ejecting brass and some other attributes the require heavy memory and would log kills with the best of them--usually scoring 3:1 kill/be killed ratio. A little over a year ago, had to slick the hard drive to get rid of virus. Certainly experienced performance problems then, but when the cmputer came home, it was running great and has been fine until recently. While in the shop, added some memory and SMC1244TX Fast Ethernet PCI card. I run the corporate Symantec Corporate Edition Anti-virus nightly as a scheduled task. I had been using a free Microsoft Spyware, which recently expired and I haven't replaced it with anything else. Think I'll rtun a spyware scan and see what I can clean up, if anything, reboot, and pray. While the video card could use an upgrade, I don't think it's the source of the problem based on past performance, which has been fine. I really believe it is something else. I'll be back and post what actions I take and what effect it has. Appreciate the tech assist, fellas. BDB

A little follow up-- I've taken some aggresive action to see what would happen, but sure enough, no go, amigo....... I've reloaded the Microsoft Antispyware Beta and turned up nothing (it had only been a few days since last screen), and I have added Tune Up Utilities 2006 (free 30 day trial that performs actions, not just scans). The Tune up Utilities indicated it had cleaned up a load of temp and registry issues, so maybe best (and last) approach is to reload the game once again and see if the glitch gets corrected. When reloading the game, first load COD and it's updates, then load CODUO followed by its updates. Do I need to load all updates for each or does the latest (most recent) update capture it all? If this doesn't work, I'm off to the shop. While there,I'll invest in the upgraded video card as suggested. Any more recommendations or advise before putting a bullet in this ol' war horse? Regards, BDB

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/, try this also, I have microsoft antispyware also, I use both and for some reason the lavasoft catches the spyware, the microsoft one is only a beta, so its not really that reliable.

Angel_Eyes-- Thanks for the recommendation. I did as you suggested, but regretaby, no change in the problem. I guy at work has a Word-Doctor program that is support to go through your computer and retstore and atraighten out any deleted, destroyed or corupt files. I'll try it next, to see if the computer simply isn't installating the game correctly. After that, gonna haul 'er in to the shop. Thanks, BDB
