I have recently re-installed CoD onto my PC after re-formatting it and whenever i try to play it i get a error message saying "Couldnt load defualt_mp.cfg. Make sure Call of Duty is run from the correct folder." Has anyone got any ideas of how to fix this problem the activision support didnt help at all. Thx Elluko
Question I try and launch Call of Duty and get a "Couldn't Load Default.cfg" message, what does this mean? Answer This error means the game can’t find its \Main directory. This problem can occur if you have installed the game in the root drive (for example C:\). If this occurs, reinstalling the game in a subdirectory of the root drive will solve the issue. In other words make sure you've installed the game to the following: C:\Program Files\Call of Duty
Thanks for the help man i tried that but it didnt seem to do anything. Anyone else got any ideas? Elluko
What version have you got installed?
Try and copy your the file localized_english_pak0.pk3 from your d:\Setup\Data (d is your cdrom drive) to the Main Call of Duty folder
Nope that doesnt work when i try and copy the file it comes up with an error message halfway throught copying saying "cannot copy localized_english_pak0.pk3 : data error (cyclic redundany check)" but still thanks for trying Elluko
Are you starting the game by clicking an icon?
i have tried launching the game through shortcuts, the actual .exe and when u insert the cd from that menu
Nope that doesnt work when i try and copy the file it comes up with an error message halfway throught copying saying "cannot copy localized_english_pak0.pk3 : data error (cyclic redundany check)" but still thanks for trying
Thats your problem, you need to copy that file over. I've just tried copying my file over and it worked like a charm. It sounds like your cd is either scratched or the cdrom/dvd drive is dirty and cant read the cd. But you really need that file over as thats where the default_mp.cfg file is.
ok cheers ill uninstall and try my CD drive rather than DVD if that doesnt work then i guess its the disc. Thanks Edit: Thanks alot man it must be my DVD drive cuz it works from my CD drive thanks for all the help. Well im off now to kill some nazis cya. Elluko
