:0wned: Ok, how do you start an Internet dedicated server? Whenever I do, it goes to CoD Console. Am I supposed to launch the server from there? If so, how? Please help me, thank you. :bows: :bows: :bows:
Will someone please help?
I almost thought this was how to restart the server... I looked back and now I understand what you're talking about. You'll need to make sure that you have the config files established that will control your settings and map rotation. Without that your server wont start. After you have those files in the appropriate folders (should be .../Callofduty/UO), then go to Start Server... and it'll take a few minutes at most while it loads everything up. It'll bring up a console like you are seeing, and start loading in the information you've established. It might take some time, so have patience... took me about 3 minutes.
Config files? Are they already in the CoD folders? Or will CoD make them when I start server? I will search the folders when i get home, thank you for helping, I will post again if I need anymore help.
the cfg files tell Call ofduty which mode it is playing in.. If you play online then you would be reading off you MP.cfg file (multiplayer configuration) this will tell the pc which keys you use to move, shoot etc... There are also dedicated cfg files which tell the PC to start up as a dedicated server (they will look similar to mp.cfg files). These will have other information such as number of clients allowed, game passwords, map rotations etc...
thnx, will the server stay up when i log off it?
it should do what are you logged in with? is it a remote server or is it on a home network?
PSTD, if u dont know how to make cfg files, I suggest u go to http://sos.noginn.com/codserver/ and fill in the form there.
This will generate a server config file for u, with all the specifications u want. U then name the file , and just drop it in the 'Main' folder of COD.
Start up MP COD and before u even start server, drop the console down and type: /exec , where = what u called the server cfg file.
Then start server. This configuration will be retained indefinately - until u change it.
As for whether or not the server will be running when u end the game, it definately will if your pc is acting as the server.
type: /exec , where = what u called the server cfg file.
So it would be like, /exec ghost.cfg, where ghost.cfg = ghost.cfg ? Show me how it would look if I named the file ghost.cfg , would server cfg file be ghost.cfg also?
lol. Erm, im not being rude or anything but u misunderstood what I meant. Everything after the comma is explanation - i was trying to explain what stands for.
So that we can be clear, if u called the file ghost.cfg u would simply type in console only the following: /exec ghost.cfg
I hope this is clear enough now m8.
