does anyone know how to install cod manully from the disks becsoue i tried to install it and when it askes fro the second disk and iput it in the install dont do anything it just stays theri doing nuting when i cancel it cod is threi in program files then i took all the rest of the files from disk 2 DATA and Copy and Paste it to cod and i start it and played a 1.1 server worked fine then i tried to patch it with 1.2 it saided this:

"Setup Could not locate a vaild installation of call of duty.

Call of duty must be installed before applying the patch

Click OK to exit the installer"

I was woundering how to make the patch detet it any one know how i really i need to know badly

I believe that usually the last thing to be installed from games is their registry entries- therefore it would be possible that the patch searches the registry, not the program files, for Call of Duty.

I, however, do not think that your problem is common. Are you sure that you click "ok" after inserting the CD *and* waiting a few seconds for the CD to be detected? What are your computer specifications? Make sure that you scan for viruses, defrag, and run windows update often though.
