Hey all, trying to put together a base assault server, have created a server config file and put in the correct parameters to set it up for base assault, but my map rotation won't advance past the 2nd map, 1st map is barbarossa 2nd map is ardennes 1944 but it will not advance past ardennes, keeps bouncing back to barbarossa??? I can post my server config file to see if anybody can plz help me out. And yes all maps that were placed in the server config file are base assault maps (have played them & dl'ed them from other servers running base assault) This would be a dedicated listen server, any help would be much apreciatted............ its crashing and returning to the current map (default), which in your case is Barbarossa. Take out mp_uo_ardennes1944 and try it then.

Rule of thumb: always remove the map which comes before an error.

btw - point of correction: a didicated server and a listern server are completely different animals.

(are you running mods with Barbarossa? I see cvars in there which are not stock ones, so it leads me to believe you are. Barbarossa is a dangerous beast to run at the best of times, without pushing the gamestate even more with mods installed as well.)

took out mp_uo_ardennes1944 first & it still would'nt cycle maps, then even took out barbarossa both from map cycle & set sv_mapRotationCurrentmap & that did'nt help either, anymore clues possibly???

Ok, important question: are you using any mods?

In order to find the cause, people need to know everything about the makeup of the server:

Is it Windows or Linux?

Are you running mods?

Does it crash out on stock maps on the BAS rotation, or is it the custom maps?

Does it crash on other gametypes, using the existing map rotation?

Are the names of the maps correct? (servers default back to currentmaprotation when it cannot find a map)

Do you have the barbarossa final patch installed?

I went to the AHz site and found this:

A server patch for admins running Barbarossa Final. Its an expolit blocker, so doesnt 'fix' any server crashes, but it might be a factor in why you are having problems.

Server is Windows, and yes i'm running mods (AWE-UO2.0 & other various reticulars,sounds,etc) and no i have'nt tried it yet on stock maps, but map that "should" be next in bas map cycle is foy, getting rdy to go to work or i'd be able to find out more for ya, but in general this is what i can tell you now, will check post upon getting home from work, thx............

opps - dont know how I missed this (must have been tired):

gametype bas map mp_uo_broadsword

broadsword comes in 2 versions - one of which doesnt support BAS. which one are you running?

ok, just saw your post:

Its the mods + BAS + large gamestate hungry maps like Barbarossa, townassult and broadsword.

UO has a limit to the gamestate (how much data is sent to a client), which is 32k. Barbarossa pushes it at 28k, so does townassult.

I remember Gerry (creator of broadsword) telling me that broadsword was coming in at a ridiculous 30k of gamestate on BAS, and I advised to remove it as a supported gametype. Seems he didnt heed that advice, and I have heard that broadsword crashes out on BAS.

A notorious server crasher is the gametype BAS (which is why you have to have the BAS friendly version of kharkov in the first place).

Running these maps, with another gamestate hungry thing like AWE mods (plus all the extra mods you running) is prolly the cause of the crash.

I think you will find you have some choices:

Run the current list of maps on BAS without AWE or other mods (some small mods will work).

Run some maps on BAS with AWE (barbarossa is out).

Run the current list of maps with AWE but without BAS as the gametype.

(do you have the AHz vehicle mod pack installed? this is necessary to run barbarossa)

tally, yes i do have the vehicles correctly installed (for barbarossa) as i've been playing Barbarossa in an online bas server for quite awhile, mmm the suggestions concerning broadsword, barbarossa, and town assault are worth a try (especially with what you've noted concerning them all) as far as the version of broadsword, i have these 2-(mp_broadsword.pk3) & this one also (UO_Broadsword_beta.pk3). I run the mp_broadsword in my server & it "appeared" to run fine when i go to change map by hitting escape (and yes it is set up as a bas server) What i'll do first is try changing the broadsword map with the other UO_Broadsword_beta version & see what happens & if that doesn't help, i'll then try changing the server.cfg file into a TDM server & see what happens, i'll keep ya posted tally............

ok fixed a couple of things & somewhat made some progress, 1st off, knowticed that i was running the "coorect" version of broadsword "but" did not have "_beta" behind Broadsword (fixed that) and i also removed both mp_foy & mp_ponyri to which it now cycled through the 1st 3 maps & then would'nt play nor advance to mp_uo_townassault_final- mp_kharkov_bas_bet - mp_uo_broadsword_beta (even though it said each and every one of these maps were next in rotation on screen???) it did eventually skip to mp_uo_vitebsk_final though after several tries??? and it never did play mp_uo_wesel_beta2 even though again it said it was up next in the map rotation on the screen??? weird???
