This is an error with COD2. Or did you mean COD1? If so, I have never seen that error in COD1.

On the assumption you mean COD2:

too many maps, is the cause. COD2 has a bug (which IW are fixing), which limits you to 4 extra iwd files.

You can either, make sure you have no more than 4 at the most extra iwd files (and that includes mods), or combine all your maps and mods into 4 iwd files.

I did this, with our clan server, I combined 7 custom maps into 3 iwd files, and we have 1 more iwd file for our mod.

Its fairly easy:

1. You will need to use winrar, which is free to download. Just google for it.

2. Gather all the pk3 files you want to edit together onto your Windows desktop. Open any pk3 file in winrar. We will call this the Master.

3. then open a second one in winrar, so that you still have the Master open as well. Now, highlight all of the folders in the second pk3 file, and drag them over to the Master - so that you add all the folders from the second to the Master.

You will find that all the files inside the folders will be added to the existing folders in the Master, and any new folders not found in the Master will be added to the list in the Master.

4. do this with all the other pk3 files - add them to the Master.

When you have finished, you have all your custom maps added into one pk3 file.

follow the descripton above - its exactly the same.

pk3 = iwd files
