Same thing happens for me when I start the game in multiplayer. Takes like 30 to 60 seconds. When I first installed the game it didn't do that. In fact, I've installed the game several times, and for a while it doesn't do it right after installation. But something happens, then after that point it takes forever. I've asked around and no one can tell me why. I even asked CoD tech support and got no reasonable response.

My hunch is that when you first install the game it must hardcode something about your network in there. Then when you network changes at all (e.g. different ip or different gateway) it takes a long time for it to time out before it goes back to using some standard default or something.

I've been meaning to put a packet sniffer on my computer to find the answer to this problem.

I have the same problem... I once found a FAQ that told how to fix the problem, but I cannot remember the URL. I do remember it involved changing the location of the file in the properties section under COD. Anyone know?
