Well all depends which ISP you get but SAT service is just like Broadband so you should see a big difference.

Anything is better than 56k, but quite frankly satelite sucks.

Yes, unless you can get DSL or cable.

Yes, you'd have lower ping. It would probably be around 150.

DIRECWAY satellite internet service delivers a reliable, high speed internet connection to residents of areas where DSL and cable connections are unavailable. Promising "broadband that's out of this world," DIRECWAY offers subscribers speeds of up to 500kbps, which, while slower than cable or DSL (which offer speeds of approximately 1.5mbps), is substantially faster (10x) than a standard dial-up connection of 28 to 50kbps.

I've looked on the net and found that SAT depends on what the weather is like. Some have said that when its raining the strengh goes right down. But all you need to do is google DirecWay and you'll see what the real comments are about the ISP.

That was an interesting link you had there m8. Thnx. It's not as expensive as I thought it would be. But then, the company you are interested in is having a sale on at the moment. So, you would expect it to come out affordable. Only thing was, I didn't see any mention of speeds. Before I put any money into anything like this, I would want to know what sort of speeds to expect. But given the only alternative you have is 56k, I'd sign up for it at those prices. Coz anything is better than 56k. But I would check before to see how long the $99 deal lasts for. Might turn out that in 6 months you start paying $300 a month (which is nearer the figure I originally thought it was).
