Hi folks, While playing COD and COD UO I noticed a lot of black tearing on the screen - I usually notice it around and in the trees and bushes. At first it looked like the stems but they are not - they are going all different ways. I also notice them between trasitions like between a wall and the outside world etc.. Is it possible that I could play with my V sync settings to correct this? My games are set at 1024 x 768 resolution on high ( not higgest ) detail. My specs are below. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks - jg1234 P IIII 2.5 ghz CPU 1024 MB Single DDR Ram Sound Blaster 5 Sound Card ATI 9600 XT Video Card APG 8x( 128 MB DDR and 128 bit ) Monitor 19 inch Planar LCD Falt Panal with 8MS b-w-b response time Windows XP SP 2 Just about all background applications are turned off.
Here are a couple of thoughts, are you playing with everything set to high? Have you set your details to low setting to see if this repeats. Does it happen immediately once you are playing or does it take awhile for it to start?. If it takes awhile for the tearing to start, your card might be getting hot. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your video card drivers? Just a couple of thoughts on it.
Look for any update/fix for your ATI graphics card. I've heard they don't work as they should with some games. Or maybe im wrong :P
Hi, Thanks for the quick response. The tearing usually starts right away but I will try tonight to lower the settings and see if it happens. I have the latest driers but have not tried uninstalling ad reinstalling. I will give that a shot and post back tomorrow. thanks - jg1234
I've got the same problem. I didnt have the problem before. It all started when i updated my graphics card drivers NVidia to 169.21 version which is the latest version. Please someone help. I tried turning V sync on both in the game and in the graphic card settings. I made all setting to LOW detail, still it didnt solve the problem.
Yes this might sound odd, but you said the problem happened after you updated to the latest version? One of my clan members said went back a ver on his drivers and he says it looks better. Example: 1.23 (latest) back to 1.20 Try it and see.
I tried doing just that. I uninstalled my latest drivers and loaded up my previous driver. It still is showing that screen tearing. i dont know why.
Ok . well do yourself a favor. Make a new post with your Pc's specs so we know what we are dealing with here m8. Try not to revive old threads. Your problem may not be the original posters problem do to a difference of hardware.
