I just purchased the Call of Duty Deluxe Edition Box Set and when I load, disc one loads fine and prompts for disc two. When I put in disc 2 and hit ok, it starts to run, but the just loops or keep running with no loading window appearing. I have a brand new Dell with windows NT. I'm thinking I have a compatibility problem. Can anyone help on this?

yeah, its a compatability problem - the install sheild wont run on NT. But you can still do it, and thats because you can do a manual install (like you would on a remote server). Heres how:

1. Create a folder in Program Files called 'Call of Duty'

2. Place COD CD1 in your ROM drive, and then explore it. Find a folder called setup, and go into it. There you will find a folder called 'Data', go into it.

3. You now need to copy and past all these files and folders:

install_cod.jpg

4. Once you have copy and pasted all thos files and folders, put in your CD2. again explore it and find the folder 'setup'. Again go into it and find the 'Data' folder. Open it and then copy these files:

install_cod2.jpg

Once you have done this, the game is ready to fire up. so, start up a multiplay session. Go to 'Multiplay Options', and click on the button 'Enter CD key'. Do so: enter your valid serial key.

Once you've done this, you need to update the game with the 1.5 patch. You will find the patch runs fine on NT, so there shouldnt be any problems with it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know.

EDIT:

I got everything into the file on C drive. When I went to play multi, I got the following error: ------- Miles successfully initialized ------- Sound file 'sound/explosions/explo_radio01.wav' not found WARNING: loaded sound file 'sound/explosions/explo_radio01.wav' couldn't be read Sound file 'sound/explosions/explo_radio02.wav' not found WARNING: loaded sound file 'sound/explosions/explo_radio02.wav' couldn't be read Sound file 'sound/misc/beep.wav' not found WARNING: loaded sound file 'sound/misc/beep.wav' couldn't be read ----- CL_Shutdown ----- RE_Shutdown( 1 ) Shutting down OpenGL subsystem ...wglMakeCurrent( NULL, NULL ): success ...deleting GL context: success ...releasing DC: success ...destroying window ...resetting display ...shutting down QGL ...unloading OpenGL DLL ----------------------- Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok 3 sound file(s) are missing or in a bad format I cannot find the "missing" or "damaged" files on either disc.

You either have a bad sound driver or the pk3 files havent been copied properly.

Check the pk3 file sizes. This is what they should be:

Call of Duty version 1.0 # localized_english_pak0.pk3, 167,895,169 bytes # localized_english_pak1.pk3, 126,070,475 bytes # pak0.pk3, 167,014,921 bytes # pak1.pk3, 165,964,103 bytes # pak2.pk3, 165,555,454 bytes # pak3.pk3, 167,888,227 bytes # pak4.pk3, 167,607,183 bytes # pak5.pk3, 80,540,215 bytes # pak6.pk3, 613,326 bytes

If any dont match then you must copy the relevent file again.

If they all match then its your sound driver. Reinstall it.

Ihave checked the sound card (SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [D8C0] and it appears fine. It is about 2 months old and havce used it with numerous other applications without a hitch. I did reinstall the driver anyway. The files on the COD disc number two are as follows: pak1.pk3

The sound card is SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [D8C0]. It is about 2 months old and I have used it successfully with numerous other applications. I did however reinstall the driver. Regarding the files. There is a difference there. The following are the files as they appear on disc #2: pak1.pk3 162,075 KB PK3 File 10/8/2003 11:57 AM pak2.pk3 161,676 KB PK3 File 10/8/2003 11:57 AM pak3.pk3 163,954 KB PK3 File 10/8/2003 11:58 AM pak4.pk3 163,679 KB PK3 File 10/8/2003 11:58 AM I reinstalled everything as previously advised and still get the same error on the 3 files. Do you have another direction to go on this? Frustrating and I can return it, except for the same game which I did with the same results when installed.
