Im on modding COD . My Question? Im able to unpack the pack files with winZip,but when ive mannipulated them and want to put them back in PK4 Mode it wont work,do i nedd 7z or any other Packing system,if so please tell me which?

there is no such file format as pk4 and that is prolly why it wont work. COD and UO use a file called pk3.
I suggest you google for Pakscape, download it, and use that program to save the mod files you are trying to make as pk3 files.
Ok PK4,Pk3 I dont care about that,cause modders know what i mean,but youre right with cod 1 its pk3 (did i really sayed pk4 i must have read this somewhere in Quake 4 my newest Game). And for the other Question,im just bound to make some mods for me,and only for me,I dont want to put htem to download here,I dont want to make money with it or something else like that. Of course it would be fine if somebody could help me with that pk3 pk4 stuff. I read it somewhere in a mod ive downloaded,the modder tells to unpack the pk3(pk4) files with winzip,than modding the files and bring them back to pk3(pk4) format,but as i had done my mod(2 hours work,so just kick me):uhoh: i couldnt bring it back to that pk3 format,i can tell i was so angry about it,and so maybe you are able to help.

A pk3 file is just a zip format file. If you want to use WinZip, just make sure the name of your mod has the .pk3 extension at the end of it - eg mymod.pk3. then, when you 'saveas', the file comes out as a .pk3 file.
This is the same for COD2 .iwd files - convert a .zip file to .iwd by using 'saveas', and then adding .iwd to the name of the file -eg - 'saveas' mymod.iwd. then, it comes out as a .iwd file.
I know I did something wrong,I just forget to save the file. Now I got Pakscape too,what makes the work a lot more easier. Thank you for the Tip,ohh and if anybody wants to partizipate with any Mod of mine,just write a note.I welcome any Help. One Last Question,is COD2 Doom3 or any other Engine,if so tell me which,cause the Doom3 Engine doesnt work correctly.I never had such problems since the HL2 SDK is so easy to use.
COD2 is the Quake3 engine jazzed up a bit. Mainly its the graphics engine which has changed - ported over from Open GL to DirectX9. HL2 is a different engine. Quake3 engine is more like MOHAA then HL2.
What are you trying to do in your mod? Im a very expeirenced modder, having worked on German Front Mod, the Capone Story, and now The North West Passage mod for COD2 (still in development).
Mainly im trying to make a German Campaign,cause I am German. There actually never was one. Might be the Reason that those Nazis where very,very,very bad Guys. But the Heck I dont want to rule the World I just want to make a German COD 2 Campaign. I have made some Mini Mods,like Weapons tweaking,but now im trying to find a editor to make some Levels,you say i have to use the Quake3 Engine. And than...Im suppost to import the Cod2 Files,am i right?
If your trying to make mp 'levels' do you mean maps? Or is it sp your talking about?
You will be up against stiff competition for a German mp campaign as Webchen and Gamalucker are very far along with German Front Mod for COD2. Take a look at the graphics work they done over at their site:
As for getting the files from COD2, what files are you talking about? the graphics problem has now been fixed. The .iwi files can now be coverted to DDS files, there is an exporter from targa or DDS back to .iwi.
I know about that GFM.But im only into SP. The Files i ment which Editor i have to use,cause the COD2 doesnt seem to have anyone,if not,please tell me how to activate it,via the Console?
