Hey, I think it would be possible to make an ak-47 for cod2 if u based it off of the mp44. You would hav 2 make a new skin, sound change the firing rate, and maybe tweak a few other things. Wouldn't that be cool? Thanx

You'd probably need an entirely new model, unfortunately - IMO the AK-47 and StG-44 look nothing like each other. However, interesting idea, I do recall seeing somewhere a mod that had the M4A1 and AK-47 in it (plus a handful of other newer weapons)

It was on CoDFiles somewhere, I'll scout around and see if I can find it.

It was my mod, and it wasnt for COD2 - it was for UO.

At the moment, no one has managed to get any new weapons into COD2, so until someone does it, we are stuck with the stock game weapons .

By the way tally, i love that mod you made for UO. That UMP was uber, aswell as the MAC 11! If you could make one for CoD2, t'would be great

Ah ok, shame. Would have liked a few modern weapons in CoD2. I'll have to get CoDUO sometime.

The main problem with getting custom weapons into COD2 is the use of the 3D tools - Maya.

Most of us are expert in 3D Studio Max. With vCOD/UO, we had a plugin that allowed us to export our models into the COD format, called xmodel (from MOH days). With COD2, there is only a plugin for Maya 6.0 - not 5, or 6.2, or 6.5 - just 6.0. this has caused some problems: getting used to the tools is bad enough, but when you only allowed to use a specific program (and not even a current one [current verision of Maya is 7.2]), it holds things up.

Orientation of models is also a BIG problem. Once we get the models into COD2, they are fekked up anyways. This is because the x-y axis that we are used to working with, has been changed.

But the good news is, some of us have started to get the hang of it, and its just a question of time before the whole community gets with the program.

German Front Mod have manged to successfully get 2 new custom weapons into the game, and more are on the way.

If anyone wants to see the GFM stuff, see this post:
