sup, just thinkin is it possable to add ragdoll in COD2? cuz it badly needs it, those animations SUCK! (sry for caps). Its just script (code) ant it? ye it takes a long time to code but Damn its Worth It! Right?

It is if you want to buy the rights to use Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 2 engine. That kind of stuff is hard coded. And since they probably got rid of that feature early on in the development, adding that feature into the source code now would only cause many many problems. Big features like physics especially must be added in early so that models and other features related to that feature will work properly. It's all planned out. Ragdoll physics would require a lot of reworking the engine. I don't think Infinity Ward would want to do that themselves. But you never know. I bet it causes way to much lag on the FPS anyways. They might have been able to pull it off if they would have made countless death animations of all kinds and then at the end of every animation they could have turned on Ragdoll physics to make the body limp. Same goes for body parts. But I don't even think the strongest PC's available to us now can handle Call of Duty 2 with all settings set to the highest and for everything to have physics like in Half-Life 2 or Doom 3. Call of Duty 2 is so much more broad-scale then those games. It has a lot of open areas and you get to see a lot of gorgeous vistas of smoldering towns and dead bodies everywhere while everything around you has bump mapping, and specularmapping, and pixel shaders and so on and so on. It's already a lot to handle. In a couple years or less, that stuff will be here for a decent price.

Ye, the game look Grippin :eek: But only in still pics, realtime it dont look that g8 it looks rushed, the reload/death/etc all amins look rush an to fast the sound of weapons ar lamo theres no gore, k bia gameplay/amins/gore/etc with callofduty2 graphics thats a DAMN good game!

If your wanting ragdolls look into playing some dods if you have not played it allready.Its fun. I agree that cod2 should a have ragdolls.they are so cool while playing css,hl2,hl2dm,dods.

big fhfan,i agree with your comment on the bia, expect the gameplay.i didnt care for the gameplay much.but the rest of the game was fun. And if there was a way to take the bia and the graphics of cod2 and add the physics from the source engine you would have one kicka$$ game. IMO

Ragdolls are cool, but not needed. Especially in Call of Duty 2. The game is amazing already. And hard to run on my PC too. It's good enough. I'm glad they left them out. It would be to much. Does DoD have just as many enemies on the screen at one time like Call of Duty 2? If it does I don't see how ragdoll physics could be possible in a game like that. Even Half-Life 2 didn't have that many enemies on the screen at one time, unless the graphics in DoD have been toned down to compensate for the physics, and the amount of enemies on screen at one time is less then CoD2, it sounds like ragdoll physics would be to much. I bet they cut back for it. That's why I'm glad CoD2 doesn't have ragdolls. They would have had to cut back on graphical enhancements or they would have had to wait to release the game for another few years. Or they would have cut back on the number of baddies per map. I love it the way it is. I can't wait to get the retail version. Then my mod will really take off. VG

if there was a way to take the bia and the graphics of cod2 and add the physics from the source engine you would have one kicka$$ game. IMO

That is a KICK ASS game man:smokin: ! Ok it mite hav lots of ai on sceen at any one time but so duz BF2, soon FH2. Th bot mods lets u hav 128bots at any one time! all with ragdoll, ye it duz take cpu power but its worth it:beer: .

what about Counter-Strike: Source? You can have up to 32 players and thats ragdoll. The most ive played with was 16 players and my pc worked fine! The CoD engine isnt really anywhere near the Source engine and did you see the new mod for Half-life? "The Loast Coast." This mod introduces graphics NEVER BEFORE SEEN!!!! Like sun shining on a wet beach and stainglass windows! You guys should see it. Anyway (getting off topic) it should be easy for any pc to handle ragdoll with CoD, but it will be rather hard to code as you all said.
