I tried WCP2.6 realism mod and like that one very much. tried the WCP hires pack but wouldn't work for some reason? also I am just trying out Cias's reaslism mods now ad first try I got errors. So is there any other I should try and might anyone know why I am getting errors like this? I ope I posted this thread in right place..

Thx, I wasnt' sure if it should go there or not. I am really enjoying the ones I have tried so far. I really like great weapons skins and awsome sound...I have no clue about these so I just look at the download # and if it says HOT! etc...OK, what would be a great COD2 install with what mods?

If you could say the errors that you recieve, it would be much more helpful. Still, here are 2 things you can do which usually help. 1. NEVER use more than one big mod at the same time. This can result in conflicting scripts and other files, which definitely isn't good. 2. Deactivate developer mode, if it's on. This will usually cause you to recieve errors that would otherwise be ignored by the system.

It's also helpfull on down the stretch to use the advanced install method if you plan to try different full realism mods. The WiCoPP Reality2.6 mod has install instructions on how to do this. You basically make a separate folder for all the mod components and place it in the COD2 folder, rather than the Main directory, then make a new shortcut (right click desktop>New>Shortcut>Browse to CoD2SP_s.exe) and modify the target path of the shortcut to get the exe to recognize the new mod folder you've created. For instance, if you name the WiCopp Reality mod folder WCP2 like WiCoPP suggests, the target path of the new shortcut (right click shortcut>Properties) should look like this: "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\CoD2SP_s.exe" +set fs_game WCP2 This will allow you to launch the game with or without the mod you have installed by the shortcut you use and also make uninstalling the mod as easy as removing the mod folder you made. Another benefit of using this method is the mod folder you create will generate it's own savegame file separate from the one the unmodded shortcut uses. Keeping saves associated with the modded or unmodded version of game you are playing can eliminate much of the hassel of using mods. Old saves prior to mod installation not working is still what confuses a lot of first time mod players.

That's goo info, I will have to try that later. I am no longer getting errors. Before I was getting errors related to a uniform etc...now it is not happening anymore. So it seems right now, I have the WCP 2.6 mod installed and the Hi res pack, Cias's reaslism mods. Now I have no errors? and the game is amazing. It made me turn my head a few times and go "WHOA!" dude lost his head right in front of me! then a enemy soldier EVAPORATED into a plume of red smoke!...and that new sound for the tanks gives me chills-it's creepy. Although I would imagine that is what they sounded like!..THX Omen that is great info. So I am surprised everything is working the way it is.. I am gonna try and do a reinstall later and do the folder thing...thx. These reaslism mods add an entirely new dimension to the game!! So It's not good to use large mods together I sprt of figured that BUT the smaller ones, like wepaons skins etc can be used...What are the best ones for Weapon skins and weapon realism? -or is it just a matter of which I like?

Well I'm not an officianado on mods, but my general rule of thumb is not to mix texture related mods, which skinning, such as the weapon skins you speak of always involves. Also same with AI related, effect related, etc. The only mods I've added via making my own mini ones is removing iron sights zoom and as much of the HUD as possible, along with adding cookoff (countdown) to the grenades. Those are just minor script changes and don't affect textures, AI, effects, etc. BTW, DO install the Reality 2.6 fix if you haven't done so. It's located right near the Reality 2.6 mod on the same page of sp mods on CODfiles.com. I don't have the hi res pack myself, I decided I was already pushing it with the settings I'm using. I'm also going to be doing some COD2 videos so I can't afford the FPS drop. The realism mods are indeed amazing when you get a good one. You rarely see such a good mod as is Reality with so many contributions from very talented modders coming together in one mod. It's also a very stable mod I find. The gore effects are excellent, supposedly from the game FEAR. I like the way there is blood spitting and vomitting when you gut shoot an enemy too, the sounds that go with it are quite visceral.

I love the mods!! the bring something to the game that was previously missing. Well it just turns the game up a notch. -I should turn my head every now and again and shake it a bit...say oh poor guy!! I tracked the error down to the Hi-res pack and also in installment 1 of Ciais's realsim mod. So I install #2 of that pack as it contains that wicked tank sound!!. I gotta have that. I look forward to hearing a tank and when I do it sort of creeps me out if you know what I mean. it is really spooky sound. SO I will just keep working with what I have and you guys keep up the great mods... I have really only found two reaslims mods that I can notice big time when I play. WCP, and Cias's anoy others I should check out? I have installed the Reality mod Fix. Also what is this about Developers mode and turning it off?

Well, chances are that if you don't know what Developer mode is, you probably don't have it on. ;) I'd reccomend the Bloodlust CoD2 mod, but of course I would, since I'm the head of that. WCP 2.6 has the same effects, since they're both from Merciles... but you can check it out as it focuses less on the reality part and more on the blood part. Also, I'd recommend SuperMario's FX mod. That's god some really good effects changes, and very good sound effects to go with it. >_> Other than that, most of the decent mods are for MP. But you should also look into weapon skins. They can really add a good bit, since many of the stock skins are heavily off-kilter.
