I've tried to update COD2 from 1.0 to 1.3/1.5 and I keep getting this error... "Setup could not locate a valid installation of Call of Duty. Since we were unable to locate a valid installation, you will be prompted for the location of Call of Duty, during the installation. Call of Duty must be installed before applying the patch. Click OK to continue." I have call of duty 2 installed, and It was installed to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2 Then, I get this message right after clicking OK... "Setup could not locate a valid Call of Duty CD Key Please re-enter your CD Key in the Multiplayer Options menu or reinstall Call of Duty to correct this problem. Click OK to exit installer." I have entered the CD key in the options and tried again, and got the error. Have tried with the 1.3 patch and 1.5 patch, neither work. Also have tried reinstalling COD2, Help...

Perform a manual update.
See this post:
Download the Rar file which is the 1.3 patch which server admins use. It doesnt need "installing". You just un-rar it, and copy the extracted files to the right COD2 folders.
There is a file in there called "version.inf" which tells the game its 1.3, but you will still need to update the Windows registry entry.
Go to Start > Run > regedit
When the Win registry editor is open, expand the tree out for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Look for SOFTWARE, and expand the tree out. Look for Activision. Expand it and highlight Call of Duty 2. Hightlight 'version', and right click 'modify' Change the version from 1.0 to 1.3. Close.
would I do the same for the 1.5 patch?
Oh, btw you rock.:bows: I got it to work.
Thanks for the help. :cya:
