Long story short, the smoke and fog is killing my FPS. Is there a way to tone it down? Also, choosing direct X 7 or 9, I tried going through the start up menu when you put the CD in, but when I click 'Direct X', it saays excutable E:\setup\rsrc\cod2.exe had the following unrecoverable error : Couldn't find library MSCVR80.ddl (required by C:\progra~1\wifd1~\MpShHook.ddl) please ensure that it is installed. Any idear the hell is going on?

Not sure what your doing.

You got COD2 installed already, but your trying to install it again?

Uninstall COD2 first, then reinstall it.

As for smoke and fog - its not so pronounced in DX7, but there is nothing you can do about it except play on servers using a "no fog" mod.

ktjpol, go to http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr80 Download the file and put it in your folder, and it might fix the problem. I had the same problem with a hitman demo, and when i put it in, it fixed it.

you can change dx settings in the option/graphics in the main menu of the game or open up your mp_config.cfg with wordpad hold ctrl and push f, in the search type dx it will bring up your dx preference change it to suit either dx7, dx9, and i think auto will work there to

Seems like there is a directx error. If none of the above solutions work for you, I suggest you download the latest verion of DirectX and then reinstall the game. That should solve your problem.

Also what graphics card are you using?
