I didn't make it!
I just got COD2 but when I pick to play it on DirectX9c rendering, the gameplay lags. The game runs perfectly fine on the DirectX7 option, but DirectX9 looks better! I don't understand. I have a GeForce FX 5500 (which says it supports DirectX9) and have the latest drivers (installed off the most recent Nvidia Forceware Release 90 download). My video card worked fine before running COD: UO with dynamic lighting option on (which is rendered, I assume, using DirectX9b, according to the game manual) so what's the problem? Is it possible that FX5500 doesn't fully support DirectX9c? Or is it something else? Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated!

Your graphics card may have been wonderful for UO, but COD2 has a different graphics engine in it.
Many, many players cannot play well in DX9 mode. Sorry to say, your card isnt great. Dont expect too much from COD2 without an Uber graphics card - at least 2 SLI cards, or CrossFire cards matched together.

might consider some more ram (and new cpu perhaps)
