I have Merciless running on my server. I also have all the files on a download server of mine. In the config, I have...

//Downloads set sv_allowDownload "1" set sv_wwwDownload "1" set sv_wwwBaseURL "http://www.empserver.gamedaemons.net/httpdocs/cod2server" set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "1"

I have a /main and /merccod2 folder with the needed files in them

Whenever someone tries to connect, the download fails. I have already asked the people hosting the download server if that config is correct, they said yes. Why are the downloads failing?

Edit:

I think I found the problem. It seems that my webspace has been deactivated for an update or something. Ill post again if it still doesnt work after the downtime.

If you are running mercilass from an fs_game folder, make sure the redirect space has a folder named the same, and the mod files are in it - otherwise it wont download.

The redirect has to mirror your server - if you have a fs_game folder called, for example, 'merciless', then you create a folder on the redirect space called 'merciless'. Put the duplicate mod files in there, and the address to the redirect space in the server cvars - but dont mention the merciless folder name as the server will find that folder on its own.

Ok, I got the webspace back up but I still have this problem. I am running from an fs_game folder. The folder name on both game and web server is "merccod2". I have all mod files in the game and web server. I still get the same message.:mad:

So your baseURL is http://www.empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server, but you have an extra folder called 'merccod2' there with all the mod stuff in it?

so the full URL woud be:

http://www.empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server/merccod2

Is that correct?

I tried to go to that link, and I got an invalid link message.

Oh sorry, the link only works without the www. in it. In my configs, it looks like //Downloads set sv_allowDownload "1" set sv_wwwDownload "1" set sv_wwwBaseURL "http://empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server" set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "1"

Right, there is nothing in your merccod2 folder on your webspace. That seems to be the problem. Your merciless client download is in the 'main' folder on your webspace. heres what to do:

1. Place the merciless client download in the merccod2 folder on your server, and on your redirect space.

2. have the current settings for redirect that you have now, and it should work.

NB: for clarification, these should be your redirect settings:

//Downloads set sv_allowDownload "1" set sv_wwwDownload "1" set sv_wwwBaseURL "http://empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server"

But the url to download (i.e. the directory tree) should be this:

http://empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server/merccod2/Merciless2_client.iwd

Yes I know, I changed it to the main for a while to see if that would work, and it did. Only problem is the mod doesnt even work right. Only a part of the HUD works. I changed it back to the merccod2 folder and still doesnt work.

I will try using "http://empserver.gamedaemons.net/cod2server/merccod2/Merciless2_client.iwd" when I get the mod to actually work lol.
