Hi, my problem with cod2 is very odd, however i have seen people in some servers talking about the exact same error i have. I run my game on max settings, but i've been trying to run fraps and my fps drops dramatically. So i went to lower my settings and when i switched my resolution and my dx9 to dx7 my game closes. After it closes it pauses briefly and a message from directx appears saying "DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error" or somthing. This occurs whenever i change graphic settings on the menu such as resolution
Does anyone know the solution thanks
Its a switching error in the game - between the 2 renders DX7 and DX9.
Delete your player profile folder (in the COD2 'main' folder). Exit the game.
Then, when you come to go into the game again, you will be asked to create your profile all over again. Start with DX7 this time, and things should be fine again.
(if you want to - save a backup of your original profile file config_mp.cfg and config.cfg [SP])
Well i just tried this.. i delted the player folder from my main restarted it.. and when i went to set my settings it did it again when i changed them... minimizes then pops up with the error after. =|
Have you tried reinstalling the game?
ok I know how to fix this. This new update on xfire has something to do with this, so when trying to switch graphics , log off and and restart ur game. If anything happens, or if u just simply need help for something else, just add me to ur xfire= silent425
Yes i have tried reinstalling, it did work but then about 10 minutes after when i tried to lower my settings so i could record, i had the same problem. Silent i dont understand what u mean but i sent u an xfire invite..
