Hello... I would just like to start off with that I am quite experienced with Computers and I have read around... I've installed .NET Framework and tried installing latest video drivers... Done several other things... but to no avail. Computer specs are no problem... I have a 7800GT, 2gig ram, and a AMD64-3200.

The problem I have is sometimes, for no apparant reason, my game stops responding, and it freezes there. Then, after about 10 seconds, it starts repeating the same sound over and over very fast for about 7 seconds. Then it either disconnects me or brings me back to normal gameplay. It doesn't do this in any other games, so I don't think its a computer problem, and it does it on both custom and stock maps, but more often on stock maps. I have tried to change my settings to different things, and nothing helps. I think it may be punkbuster, but I'm not 100% sure, as I am a server admin and do know a great deal about PB and that is not one of the normal problems to be had with it.

I hope someone can help me, as this is becoming really annoying. Thanks in advance,

SamuzSnake(Snoopl3s)

what version of COD2? 1.0 or 1.2

Running DX9 or Dx7?

Do you have the dual core patch installed as well?

have you tried it on non-PB servers?

No, but I will...

I don't see how DirectX9 would be a problem though, but maybe PunkBuster just doesn't like me or something...

FACT: even with a top end PC, COD2 was designed to run on 3 cpus - one for AI; one for FX; and one for the rest.

A PC, with its megre 1 cpu cannot handle the load on system spec. Even with the attempt to shift to 2 cores (with dual core PCs), it still records problems even for people with top end specs.

But this is only the case with DX9 - shift to DX7 and it flies along. You sacrifice the graphics, but gain in performance.
