I am putting new maps on my server. But when you connect, it makes you download every map, even though the server isnt running it at the time. Anyone have any suggestions on how to make it only download the map it is running?

yep.

The server demands certain files for the client to have before it allows them to connect. One of those 'necessry' files the server insists the client has is the sound csv files.

To make the maps download as and when they are needed (i.e. when they are in use), and not before, open all the map's iwd files in winrar and drag the csv files (in the 'soundaliases' folders) for all the maps onto the desktop, and make a seperate iwd of them.

In other words, remove all the custom map's csv files, put them all together into a folder called 'soundaliases' and pack them into 1 iwd file. Make sure non of the maps has a csv file.

Put the new iwd file on the server, and one on your redirect space, and the client will download that as they connect. Thing is, it is so small, it isnt even noticable.

Then, each map will only download as the map is needed.

Did you mean, delete the soundaliases folder from all of the map files? Or just the thing inside that folder? Cause if I already had the map on my HDD and tried to get on the server with the changed map file, it says some error. I have to delete the map file I already have and then I need to download it from the server to play.

Once you changed the maps, you cannot use the 'old' map iwd you already had in your 'main' folder to connect to the server. As you saw, the server told you that its maps and yours were not the same. That is why you had to download them again.

All files on server and client have to be the same when running a 'pure' server. Otherwise you will recieve errors (like name mismatch, checksum [size] errors, etc).

As long as you dont have the csv files in the 'soundalaises' folders, it wont matter if the map files have the folder, although I cant see the point in keeping them if they are empty.
