i downloaded the cod4 demo to try it out on my new system before i buy the game.

except i run into a problem. i start the game out on optimal settings and play. its starts out fine and then it starts to get choppy. the game doesnt really lag and slow down. its almost as if my mouse all of a sudden cannot navigate smoothly. now, this occurs in almost all situations (occurs more often in heavy activity areas). and my mouse works just fine in other games and such. im not sure what is the reason behind this.

my current system: amd x2 7750 2.7 ghz nvidia 8800gt 512mb 2gig ram

on a friends system, i could play COD4 at a decent rate. sure it was a bit laggy but i ran pretty smoothly. that systems specs were: 2ghz intel processor 1gig ram 256 nvidia card

so i know my system can handle the game

That system should play COD4 fine..

Try updating your video drivers, and all the rest and see how it plays then..

Hmm.. that really isn't a gaming card. It's a low end desktop card used mainly for Vista performance, and lower end games. the choppiness, i'm going to pin on this.. what settings does it automatically choose, what resolution, etc.

dropped the res to 800x600 nd solved most of the problem but choppiness still occured every once in awhile. doesnt make sense that it has to be dropped so low imo. but w.e i guess

From the info I have from this thread. I'd definitely say its the 8400 that is holding you back. Since you dropped the res, and it improved, it makes sense to blame the 8400. You can honestly get a nice, powerful video card at a cheap price if you're interested. Doing so would allow you to play games at higher settings and higher resolution.
