Sounds creepy, but he's right. What may have been barely good enough to run COD2 in DX7 in just not going to cut it in COD4. I've been saying it for awhile now on other forums and few listen. Gamers should have already been playing COD2 in DX9 with all the bells and whistles because now there's a bunch of players that are not ready (Hardware wise) for COD4. AGP has gone bye, bye as well as the first round of SLI crud. Notice how COD4 will come out just before Xmas so everyone will be looking for High end Video Cards and or big money Gaming PC's from Santa. Tip- those $399 Dell PC's are not going to do it. I hear it all the time, "I can't see why these games don't run on my computer... I just bought it from Dell... Hell, look at my nice flat panel monitor." LOL! Like; new, Dell, and Flat panel mean anything. Don't get me wrong you can buy a gaming PC from DELL.... For $8000.00+ or build a better one yourself for $1600.00! Oh well way off topic- sorry I have no help for ya at the moment I'll check around and see what I can come up with. Try to disable everything- No Blood, No wall marks, no glow, low settings, single GPU, 11 khz sound, Blah, Blah!:(

I have the exact same problem... I think you absolutely need DX9 to stop that error, wich brings m to MY question, can somone tell me where and how I can get it? I keep trying the DXSetup but nothing changes, at all.

Well then, it must be the graphics card, but still, that rases to my question, why wont DX9 work when I install it?

In re-reading my post I see it came across as a bit elitist and condescending. :nodding: I do and don’t want it to be read that way.:uhm: I had just tried to explain to someone that very day why a game wouldn’t run on his computer and it was like talking to a wall. He couldn’t get past the fact that his PC was NEW! On the one hand I feel if your going to try and keep up with the newest gaming titles you’ll need to keep up with the latest hardware. Is this fair to the average working JOE:confused: Not at all, but for every post about trouble playing a game there are at least 3 posts stating that the “said game” is weak and not enough to waste computer power on.:smokin: On the second hand, I think it’s BS to see some of the minimum hardware requirements printed on the box or in the READ ME file. Most times the recommended requirements are really the minimum for the game to run well:nodding:. Now as for errors and the like on any given Demo game… I would wait before assuming it’s totally your hardware or software. It may be that the game acts creepy with a certain setup, be it hardware, software or both. We’ve all seen at one time or another some freaky error or problem that pops up with one game and doesn’t seem to effect other games using the same PC. Example: LG brand (if I remember right) DVD drives and Far Cry. There were those that had trouble with the COD2 demo, but when the actual game came out they had no problems. I always think of these demos as a test run and then they’ll tone it down a bit so most can play it without trouble. As for DX9… I’ve seen Direct X troubles over and over and there has been little one can do about it. Windows:bows: will say it’s there :cya: or that it’s working, but it’s a ghost. I would assume that if you have COD2 and played it- you would have DX9 installed even if you played in DX7- since DX9 comes with the game and or the updates. To get to the root of this problem I’ll ask some questions. :deal: Have you played COD2 in DX9 mode without trouble? Have you run the DX diagnostic tests? Have you installed any new graphics card drivers? Do you like to watch Gladiator movies, Billy? What goes down stairs- alone or in pairs and makes a slinkity sound? :D Seriously! The point is look at one thing at a time before condemning your PC or the retail version of the game. It may end up being just a cruddy Game Demo issue!

No, I have not played CoD2 in DX9, ever. Because, whenever I switch the option to DirectX(r)9 nothing changes, AT ALL. No I have not run the DX diagnostic tests, I don't know how. I have the same old graphics card I got from probably 2 years ago, and when I install DX9 it says it'll work when I restart the computer, but it didn't, i've tried this multiple times. As for the other questions they don't need answers.

(Sorry for double post but) I just checked dxdiag again, it says I have DX9.0c so that should be good enough to run CoD4.... So in that case it can't be the DX version, but then, what is it?
