I installed the game, then it was giving me an error code iw3mp.exe... I read up on it, so I disabled my onboard sound and bought a soundblaster audiology se soundcard, and installed it with all of the updates. I actually played a game once with no sound, but then it crashed right after the match ended. Ever since it will come to the main menu then quit just a few seconds after it begins to load.... here are my specs. AMD Athlon processor soyo dragon ultra motherboard 1g of ram geforce 6800 video card 80g hard drive

Have you updated your drivers to the latest versions for your video card as well??

Are you using the Retail or STEAM version of the game?

I have updated everything.... I have the retail version of the game... now I have got it to where it was in the first place.... I try entering the game, and it freezes on a sound. when the game quits it tells me that it encountered a problem with the iw3mp.exe file.

Try closing down applications that don't need to be running like anti-virus + it's addons if any, msn etc that also goes for processes.

Run this Can You RUN It? and makesure your system actually passes the requirements to run the game.

You might also want to create a seperate hardware configuration for gaming.. (merrick if you're reading this can you post the link for that).

Just because it freezes on a sound, doesn't mean it is your sound card. The " has an error and needs to shut down " error is a hardware compatibility issue. It could be a video issue which is making the error happen which can cause the loop back on the sound.

As ace said, you can make a Gamers profile on your pc, all this does is, makes a secondary account with administrator rights, it doesn't run ANYTHING BUT GAMES.

You don't install antivirus or anything on this secondary as it is not needed ( unless you are downloading things from servers in which case you do need it)

Go into the START menu, click CONTROL PANEL, then go to USER ACCOUNTS, Click MANAGE ANOTHER ACCOUNT (click continue because here, vista asks permission).

Go down to the bottom where it says CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT. Set as ADMINISTRATOR and give it a name such as GAMER.

Then just set this account as you see fit... Shut off all printing devices, and any other processes that will complicate your life on your system while playing.
