I have recently install COD4 onto my laptop. It displays the COD4 startup screen, then it displays a small window with an "unknown directx error" before crashing back to the desktop in sp and mp mode. The notebook specs are: Dell Inspiron 9300 Geforce Go 6800 256mb 2gig ram 80gig hardrive VGA Drivers: latest from dell website, Nvidia does not have any for this card DirectX: Latest Nov release Any suggestions on how I can resolve this problem?

Check your eventID and let us know what errors do you see there?
Clearly you have enough RAM.. You should be able to run the game with that graphics card.. I run the game on max settings with X 700 Pro and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM.. Clearly it is a Direct X glich.. You should reinstall Direct X.. Also get the latest drivers for your graphics card (too much of a common problem!).. I hope you can get the game working, it's really good.
