I bought and installed the game yesterday, and beat it too [in about 3 hours, I was like "OMFG that's so short!"]. I got online and got up to Sargent first class but now tomorrow, I can't get online. I have this same error as this guy, http://forums.filefront.com/cod4-problems-errors-help/337266-online-prob.html but I don't have access to the router, I'm playing on college provided line, a T1 I think. Any suggestions for me?
Thats something that regularly happens. Only way I have found around it is to simply go to other servers. Also, if it gets to 7ish or higher, simply do /disconnect into console and try another server. Hope this helps. Mr_Nickle
I also found that if you have teamspeak on, it won't connect. I start up ts AFTER I get ingame.
GIVE THIS A GO: What to try first: - Make sure the windows firewall has CoD4 MP and Punkbuster A and Punkbuster B as exceptions allowed through the firewall. - Does your internet have good access. - goto your config for MP and change the line "seta cl_ConnectionAttempts" from 10 to 60 You will find it in the default location of c:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles Update#1 The Master Servers are up and running. However there have been some hacker denial of service attacks. These are now mostly resolved. Access should be available. Original Problem If you are having connection issues with the Server the reason is errors at Activision - here's why: "This is related to some minor issues with Activision's Master Server causing some packet lost and connection errors. This is currently being addressed as we're going to move over all those responsibilities to a new non-virtual server we're setting up here at Infinity Ward however keep in mind it will take some time for the DNS to update for everyone and propagate the changes so you may continue to see some issues until it has fully propagated to each of you guys." So this problem should be going away as they address the problem. Some work arounds that we have been using are: 1. goto your MP config find or ADD the line and change "seta cl_ConnectionAttempts" from 10 to 60 2. The server is only giving 10 seconds to connect, type in "reconnect" on the command line and hit enter at 9 seconds - keep doing this until you connect.

Yes it does. I was really worried it had shat out on me, but not so! Thanks a bunch. The problem was none of the servers were letting me on but I let the game be and reset a few times, unplugged my connection and put it back in and things were back to normal. I suppose this will happen now and again for me for whatever reason it does occur.
