I have used BC 2.1 to generate shadows for objects.

Is there a plug in for ED42 to do this same function?

in the MDT (the FH-mdt) i think there's a script that creates shadows. there's a lot of troubleshooting threads on that script in these forums, as quite a few got it wrong the first couple of times. it does not run inside ed42 (thank god - it's been about as unstable as a metal cone standing on its pointy end today), but runs as a dos-program (NT5.x-"dos") externally.

You need a load of free disk space to use it though! I think you have to unpack most of the FH mod and Bf42 as well... I've just got the shadow-generating stage to go on my Cretan Village map but I can't do it cos I don't have enough free disk space!

yeah, the FH-mdt is around 100-200 MB, but when you extract the archive it takes 5 gig. i didn't even believe it when i first heard about it, but i've had it confirmed from a couple of people. it also includes the loadingscreen template, the font and a few other things. so - if you're short on HD-space (like me - 8GB) you might have to delete a couple of "lesser" mods.

Yes, you can use the BF42.exe to get the lightmaps using that program included in the FH tools package, you can use also 3d max with the old Rexman's script, the best system in my opinion to improve the lightmaps of certain buildings that sometimes doesn't look good with other systems.
