In the worldbuilder object list, a boat is available. It looks like a small fishing trawler. If placed in the water it sinks regardless whether you set the height for adjustable or follow the terrain. I perched it on the side of a wide river with a gentle shoreline and assigned it to a player. In the game it was present and I could load soldiers on it (I think it was limited to one squad). I could not get it to move into the river. I thought it would be a neat way of getting across after the bridhes were blown.

Anyone out there using the boat? If so, how?

Also, does anyone know how to become a member of the RelicForum? I've tried a dozen times, but the activation code never comes. I've checked my junk folders and filtered email, no go. I seem to be a member, but when I sign on, it takes me to an error message indicating I've no access.

Actually that would be an awesome addition - like in Engineers could build a boat at the waters edge for Infantry to cross over...

It would be and i've had the idea as well, but water is impassible, just the same as you can't drive tanks through buildings. While you can have them scripted in a map to spawn with set troops and move from point A to point B (like in the campaign mission), you can't have controllable boats, not travelling on water at least anyway. :P

I'm confused, didn't they have boats coming in from the water on the first mission? Even while playing, a few boats arrived dropping of soldiers.

I'll continue to work on this and post the results. Perhaps making the boats some kind of land vehicle with a boat picture and shallow water.

Does anyone know how to put a passenger in the jeep?

Well the water would have to be passable, so vehicles would be able to drive through it anyway, and i don't know of any way to limit it to water, it'd probably be able to drive on land also. To make a unit or structure hold units, just copy the Hold_ext of the Opel Blitz or Bren Carrier, etc.

I can get the jeep to hold soldiers and weapons, but the passengers don't show up in the vehicle on screen. Since the jeep is open topped they could be seen. I've tinkered with the animation files and can get the mg gunner (without his gun) to show at spawning, but he's standing and remains in the jeep more as a fixture than a passenger. I was hoping I could adjust the offset and rotation of the driver, then clone him. But I haven't found a way to do that yet succesfully. As for the boat, I may diddle with the gravity setting for it and see what that does. How can I get the AT gun into the jeep or truck? Just setting the acceptable hold types doesn't work.

Thanks for the input. Thanks for the input.

Well the positions can be something of a problem as their specific to the model. One guy over at the RelicNews forums has been experimenting around with adding more positions to buildings via the marker_ext, but i haven't tried it, and apparently it can't be done to vehicles as those positions have to be added to the model with all the markers and anims, etc. befor eit's implementated into the game.
