OK - I want to start making maps. I've been playing this sucker for over 2 years and I'm jonesing to make a contribution.
Where should I start? I've browsed Relic Mod Wiki -- is that enough to get started?
What other resources do I need? Is there a definitive CoH map-making resource/guide?
Thanks a million, I'm chomping at the bit to get started!
p.s. I know I could search and search and find what I need, but hopefully some of you map-making geniuses will point me in the right direction!
your on the right tracks, the relic mod wiki is very helpful! if you have any specific questions shoot ill try and awnser them and im sure the guys on here would be willing to help aswell!! :cya:
Just I just need to jump in and try the water!
If I have any ??'s ( and I guarantee you that I WILL ), I'll ask!
Have built just three maps myself and one key piece of advice is that its worth having a pretty good overall idea of your design, preferably on paper, before you start. And start small - certainly 2 player and physically small - as it gets pretty depressing when you've put in all your planned details and find it only fills half your play area!
I'm having problems, too.
I've just tried the Worldbuilder on Opposing Fronts for the first time. The WB will not create new maps. It opens, and when I click on the new single or mulitplayer maps, it opens a window that is meant to find and open an existing map. It doesn't go to the screen that allows you to set the parameters to set up a new map. I've had a look on other forums, and it looks like there are problems with the WB. Anyone know what I can do to use the WB, please?
I've managed to open the WB before but that was a while ago, on an old pc with the original CoH.
Check debug and make sure its loading the correct game!!! I have had an issue where it attempted to load from a MOD file and it had those exact results. Simple fix it to move or delete the module files for you mods there so it will boot the relic module. :) Bit late but if your still wondering.
The RelicWiki is really helpfull for a first learning place, however after a while it becomes apparent that they really dont go into much detail about the tools. Luckily for people who want to learn how to use the WorldBuilder to its full potential this forum exists. So if any of you guys want help I know myself, Tureri, Hockeyshooter, and lespauljames know a few things, well i assume we know some things haha.
Ask around if you need anything, were here to help ; )
