(4) Rails and Metal This map is one of the best (say for Lyon) skirmish/multiplayer maps in the entire Company of Heroes maplist. It still was available with Opposing Fronts, which made me extremely happy. There's no bridges in it, so the chances for a stalemate is pretty narrow, however the map is sort of divided by a railway with some train wrecks on it, which makes the setting for some of the greatest long-time skirmishes I've ever encountered in CoH. Playing as the americans, preferably using the Infantry tree will enhance the action level of the entire game, and the ranger squads can wreak havoc on almost anything in the middle. The use of multitasking is also a very probably cause of action, since you most likely will have to cover at least 3-4 railway crossings. MG nests and mortar bombardment should easy-up these jobs though. May sound like a frustrating thing to play, but for a RTS fan like myself some challenge and some defeats keeps the winning-spirits up, making you enjoy some winning streaks even more ;) The main thing that made me love this map is that it takes really long time to finish one game, since the entire "middle-line" (or "border") between the two base areas become one long artillery/grenade/MG/crater-filled slaughterhouse. The areas along and around the railway is pretty open, so the use of armored units is well advised... and fun. I also tried it out as the british (me and 1 CPU v.s. 2 CPU controlled Panzer Elite armies at 'Hard' difficulty setting) which surprised me greatly. The use of artillery (which the british are more than well-suited for) became the main key to success for me. The feeling of bombing the living shit out of cover-seeking platoons of germans was... well... overwhelming. My main point of this entire thread was to try and review some of the 'not-so-reviewed' skirmish/multiplayer maps available in the game. Pretty much the only map you hear about is Lyon, which is a shame, since there are so many better maps with open areas which is perfect for artillery/panzer warfare :D Try it out. It was 3 hours of total carnage :D That's all for me.
I have only plaid that map a few times, I liked it, but there was nothing special about it. Yes I don't like Lyon either, it's a turtle map.
