I'm torn. I played Company of Heroes for months using the Combat Revolutions mod. This mod, to me, amplified all the finer points of the game for me, in addition to adding some new tweaks that added to the games level of immersion. In essence, it spoiled me. Little things like a larger population cap, bigger squad size, no unit occlusion and complex things like new squads and commander tree abilities all added to the fun. Dead bodies remained on the map and smaller mods such as 'Burning Wrecks' were incorporated. Weapon range was increased in almost all aspects so gigantic maps could be played with epic armies. Alas. Now OF has cancelled all that. Combat Revolution doesn't work with OF and there seem to be few community developers bringing out new mods. Does anyone have a mod to suggest for OF?
I just play with the King Tiger mod (adds Smoke ability and Tank shock ability to the King Tiger) with all 3 of Halftracks skin packs, and Warnstaffs Advanced AI mod all rolled into one. All i need now is correct flags for all four factions and i'll be content for a while until something along the lines of a Realism mod comes out.
Anyone tried the Enhanced Combat mod by Revolucion?
Don't know, but it's on the top of my download list, just sadly its a tad too big to download in one session, and i'm sure we all know that FileFront isn't exactly friendly towards download managers and resumers.
I liked the Infantry-only mod the first CoH (can't remember the name). It was a mod where you had a load of infrantry units, high population caps, low population costs, and basically tanks. This ensured that games didn't slowly progress into armor hoarding, and also made games really long.
I wish somebody would make a decent one for OF. I'd love to abuse allies with the Panzer Elite infrantry.
Combat Revolution: The Shattering of Countries is for Opposing Fronts and is the most indepth mod for Opposing Fronts, in fact, almost the only proper mod
Anybody try the Battle of the Bulge mod? In my opinion is is very well done even if the game play balancing needs some work.
BotB is excellent, and it's pretty balanced, but it is more realism orientated, so don't go expecting it to play like vCoH. I'm just glad the BotB, and many other mods have been converted to OF, as well as a few other excellent mods for OF have been brought out. The only bad thing is we've also been flooded by a lot of crap mods by amature modders, for whom the popularity and ease of starting to mod CoH has got them into it. The bad part is many of them don't have a clue how to do much, so many veteran modders spend a lot of their time on the net just answering questions to help the newbies... or they just ignore them all. I'm just worried now with the impending ToV and 2 new patches due soon, almost all mods will break, unless Mannerheim can save up with a new tool.
