hey guys, i was just looking for some help regarding the maps that require you to put -dev in. is it possible to play these maps accross a lan with your friends? i have so far been unable to do so? cheers
If your friend has the map too, then you should be able to play it.
So long as you both have the same version of the map, both are using the -dev in your target line, your both trying to play an offline LAN, and neither of you are trying to use OF, then sure you can. OF is very iffy ATM, a lot of people can't play .sgb maps (the -dev ones) online, even via hamatchi, and most people are having the same problem with .sga maps too. So it goes without saying that if you actually play online, don't get OF just yet.
ok well i play OF offline when im playing lan, both computers use the -dev target line and both computers have the same version of OF and the same version of the map. hmm i am yet to update my OF to the most recent would this affect it ??
I don't spend enough time here

I am also wondering how can you use hamachi?
If you go online and use LAN option it won't show the LAN servers..
As long as you both have the same versions, it's ok, if you don't have the same game version (eg. v2.103) then naturally it won't work. Word is that after the 2.102 patch, .sga maps won't work in multiplayer matches, but .sgb map will, but since i'm strictly an offline player, i wouldn't be able to confirm it. Theres a nifty little workaround to play the Hamachi servers in the RelicForums, i advise everyone puts a shortcut to those forums in your favourites folder now, and start reading there regulary. It's one of the main forums and pretty much were most of the workarounds, fixes, patches, skins, mods, etc. appear and generally where the discussions are. Pretty much every problem someone has here has already been identified, fixed (or at least acknowledged), and discussed to oblivion. Most of the people there are quite helpful, many have a good knowledge of the game, mapping or modding, the the Tech help section has the Relic devs popping in and helping from time to time.
