1. how do you do the skin add on thing (you know using different helmets for different units using skins) i really don't understand it...

Without going to in depth, it requires creating a new ebps (Entity BluePrint) and a New SBPS (Squad BluePrint). For starters, once you've duplicated an existing squad that is close to the final squad you want to achieve, assign it your new EBPS. In that new EBPS check to see what BluePrint its using, this relates back to the skin it uses. Duplicate that skin, and moddify how you want. Save the skin with DX5 and MipMaps, and as a different name, in the SAME location as the other skin. To get the correct location it is best to extract the original skin assigned to your EBPS, Go into your COH Mods folder strucure, find the name of that skin, copy and paste, edit the copy, save with DX5 and MipMaps. Rename the copy. REOPEN Mod Studio, change the new EBPS to use the new filename you created just before during the rename and edit. Technically, that should work. I myself havn't done to much work with skins however.

2. i am trying to create a tactical missile launcher using the v1 explosion but i can not get the explosion itself to show up, i however have the missile working...

Duplicate the V1's projectile, and assign it to your new weapon. Adjust your new weapon and projectile as you see fit.

3. what mip/DX settings dose coh use for weapon skins. i have built the skin but the textures appear mismatched in game. and yes i have created unit skins before so i am familiar with the skinning process.

AFAIK DX5 with MipMaps --EDIT--

1. What do you mean do the skin addon thing? Since i don't know what exactly what you mena i can only really guess here. For most units there's a RoleVariation which allows you to use a defined variation, like the Axis Driver (motorbike) is the Volksgrenadier with a helmet and no gear, or the Axis Sniper is the Stormtrooper with less gear and a slightly different uniform.

Wow, Really? I will look into that, I thought they used different skins, although I never looked into it to hard

Ohhh you'll email me a billion dollars, now we know why the US financial situation is where it is, everyone feeding money into their computers... well i don't play CoH on an ATM, so i'll just explain how to do it in short. There's afew ways to do it i reckon, so here's Method A Basically you need to copy a weapon and edit an ability, first make a copy of their default rifle, but you need to change the range to a minimum of 10, then you find the desired grenade ability, make a copy and give it to the desired unit. In the ability you change the max range 10, min range to 5 (so you don't frag your own squad). Then change a setting (it's towards the top) from targeted to always_on, then finally change the recharge timer to like 20 seconds, so that the squad can throw a decent amount of grenades, but not too many. If this doesn't work, post and i'll detail Method B (the Crystal Meth-od) next time i'm on. Yeah Pilla, their role variations, thats why the Axis Mortar team and MG42 team look so similar to the Grenadiers. Oh and the other thing, not all skins use DXT/5, most infantry skins (not all) use DXT/1 while vehicle skins have to use DXT/5. It's best to see what the original .rgt file's settings are (once the file is opened their up the top greyed out), so when converting to .dds, saving the edited .dds, and converting back to .rgt you should keep those settings.

hay sorry to ask this but can you convert this weapon skin to an rgt file. my corsix tool wont do it, it gets an error no matter what i do. i know its not the tool because i just converted a storm-trooper skin and it worked perfectly. its just a weird bug i guess as it seems to be only the weapon skins it cant convert, i can get it to convert but only if mip levels are off or its set to no compression but the textures aren't placed right on the gun... so ya can you convert this and email it to me. hay, i have a problem with my weapon skins (agen) ya the weapon skins i have edited wont convert, when i convert them i get a error, it only happens without mip levels/or set RGBA (8 bit alpha) compression. but when i load up these versions the textures are out of place, i know its my skins them selves because i am able to do solders,tanks, and buildings without problems but weapon skins have this bug. it may be my corsix tool, but i don't know at this point. if any one could, would they please convert thesse wepion skins i am attatching.

ok, thanks to my horrible modding skills it did not work. I do not know if i just set up the mod wrong or just did not load it right, i tried -dev and -dev -"mod name" and did not work, how i tried to set it up was just input a new squad,making copies of the ability, wepon unit and squad and editing them, then finishing with them all going together then made the squad in position 3 which is 1 to the right of jeep in the baracks, which ive done before but some how i messed up and it did not show... so if you know anyway to help i would love to hear it.

ok, i got the squad build able now, but they have short range rifles, not short range grenades and they fire really slow, so i don't think that it worked... they do not through a single grenade unless i buy them from the building, i think. so if you have any idea's what i did wrong please tell me so i can try to fix it with out you haveing to go through and tell me the other methods to do it again, to take up more time for both of us.

ok, never mind, i have to re-make it anyways, i tried making the camera zoom out more, and some how made it always zoomed out so i cant do anything with it, and has a error opening it back up...

Well by default the US grenades need to upgrade, if you removed the requirement from the grenades ability, it wouldn't need the upgrade from the barracks. I have no idea why thei rifles turned out to be short ranged, unless you edited their weapons files, It's unfortuante you have to remake it all, couldn't you just remove the files you modified for the zoom out? Lt_Apollo; i took a look at your skins, but you shouldn't edit them in .tga format, icons are alright in .tga, but skins should always be in .dds format. I suggest you try using GIMP 2.4 and downloading the .dds plugin for it. I resaved the textures in .dds DXT/1 format without any compression and with mipmaps, converted them to .rgt DXT/1 with mipmaps in Corsix's Mod Studio and they worked fine ingame, all the textures lines up properly and everything, although i do think the textures are way too dark for CoH, you can barely make out any detail!
