Greatest game I have ever played!!! What I have discovered however may stimulate some tweaking from the THQ designer gurus. In the dozens of games I have played as Allies against the AI, I can stop the Axis from advancing into any territory simply by stringing barbed wire around it! This is especially effective when strung across bridges. This also makes it simple for me to protect my strategic points just by stringing wire around them versus expending points to cap it, at least temporarily. (I realize capping it increases its production but early in the game I prefer expansion over capping...I just go back and cap when the manpower points are available.) Can the AI not destroy the flimsy wire? I can appreciate that it should take some time to do, but to never destroy it is baffeling to me. Neither the Axis AI infantry or motocyces will attempt to cross or destroy it until an Axis armored vehicle eventually runs through it. So I usually sprint my engineers straight to choke points to wire them off first. This gives me tons of time to build my forces. Plus by selecting a section of wire and hitting delete twice I can destroy that section, cross through and then repair it behind me. I will tell you though, that when any section is removed, even for a moment, that the AI bunches up to attack through it. This can provide you a great defensive choke point on which to concentrate your forces. You can direct the AI where you want it to attack and then destroy them wth superior forces! Is this a bug in the AI ? It would definately be more challenging if they would simply destroy the wire and move forward.

In the skirmish map with the 3 bridges all you have to do is lay tank traps and barbed wire on each bridge and no matter what the AI will not attempt to cut it :(

The map with the 3 birdges would be Lyon. And its a really fun map to use the barbedwire and tank trap strategy

They would occasionally fire on the barbed wire, but with infantry (yeah, the AI thinks it's infantry are good enough to clear barbed wires with their bullets haha)

But when they already have a Tiger or a Pershing, then say bye bye to the obstacles. Those two can crush tank traps. But by that time you would already have at ton of ATs or Tanks of your own.

I guess the CoH team didnt expect players to use this strategy.

In any case, the bug is actually enoyable. Gives you a sense of control and a sense of satisfaction in slaughtering poor unfortunate troops in well defended chokepoints :naughty:

Usually I don't barb and tank em off, I just blow them up, as the AI doesn't attempt to repair them. I remember playing an allied player online, he blocked em all off with sandbags and barbed wire, but it was endgame for him when I rushed him with 5 stugs.

Barbed wire is amazing effective against the AI. The engineers start with wire cutters on the axis side. They should be able to snip them. Instead they don't. They wait for the armor to come and run it over. I usually wire in (with tank traps behind the wire, on my side) a good portion of the map as quickly as I can, so I can build without distractions in that area.
