And there maybe no such thing as Soviet Spam. There is though, Infantry spam. Ok. Its basically me rambling again about the massive forces that threaten to amass in the fog of war... This time it was much more than that...

I knew cause I read that Soviet Infantry was much cheaper.(Oh no...)

That means AI supremacy through massive numbers! Hey before 5 minutes I got out a halftrack, two machine gun teams and hardy Volks. They've got a hundred conscripts, 5 tanks and artillery. Hell Yeah.

Its too early, I know. I just wanted to know of anyone here got any good strategies to work on?

level 1 - mgs and volks spam..rinse, lather repeat...dont spend too much time on tier 1...mg bunk if u got the ammo...pull out when the red smoke appears :( level 2 - its all about the mortars followed up by a quick pak or 2 cause theyre going tanks right about the time your krieg barracks starts producing units....I know...crazy...too soon...hopefully the new and upcoming OstHeer will save us......

I found if playing Wehr to use lots of Volks and Grens, spam MG's if there's good cover and intact buildings on the map to use, rush Soviet mortars and AT guns when they appear and capture as many as you need. Chase down sniper sniper teams when they appear too with motorbikes if you have too, and rush up to Pumas. Currently i can only survive as Wehr by going Blitz doctrine and teching to StuH 42's and getting them vet 2.

I have found denying the Soviets fuel as much as possible and using lots of Pios to build defenses and chokepoints can be a lot of help in funneling the soviet infantry blobs into MG fire. I found the early T-34/76's aren't too much trouble and a StuG supported with Volks panzerfaust or two can knock them out pretty easily.

I've found the Soviet Conscript spam hard too, but at least only half of them have guns, and the EF mod team has been adding a population cost, increasing their production and reinforcement MP cost, etc. I do have to say though that the first time i came up against the IS-2 i shat myself for no reason, my Panther Battle Group took it out without taking a hit, random fluke huh?

It's good that the EF mod team is supporting the mod so well so soon after release, i downloaded the v1.01 patch last friday, and just downloaded the v1.02 patch, v1.03 hotfix, and the v1.04 patch today. Considering the v1.04 patch is 24mb but with very few changes in the changelog, i'm wondering if they've fixed a lot of the model and skin bugs, and all the Soviet tanks proper symbol and critical icons which work.

I accidentally .............. my Volksgrenadiers! I accidentally!!!!!!!!....... NIIIIIIEEEEENNN!!!!!

Seriously though, I really really appreciate the EF MOD but for the love of the IRON CROSS FIRST CLASS! Those Ruskies sure know how to throw valuable lives away. Its a good thing they don't pick up weapons ( enemy or theirs), which is quite strange though, I remember Russians picking up their own Rifles... Not that it matters.

Its just sad though that the ever paper thin armor of the P.E. is overwhelmed by the awesome numbers of the Soviet soldiers. That the Wehrmacht can barely stand toe-to-toe with the massive conscripts and what not!

One more thing! Before I forget. Is there a fix to the automatic wins in some maps? Cause I played once and won automatically in 6 seconds! RECORD TIME!

Not yet...The EF mod team is currently discussing this issue with relic about recrewing heavy weapons. As far as picking up small squad weapons; like panzershrecks , lmg42's, etc etc., its totally possible.

conscripts do only (I think) 1 damage , strelkys 2 damage, and guards 3 damage. grens with 43's is 3+2 damage , while stg 44's are 3+3 or more damage , so it possible , just have to have good cover, good micro, and a few good chokepoints.

That the Wehrmacht can barely stand toe-to-toe with the massive conscripts and what not!

Ostheer for the save!...whenever that will be..... And just be glad realism issues like ammunition supply arent implemented here...otherwise this would be a REAL east front experience where the ratio was 1:10 and ammo supply ran low quickly against such numbers

Yes they said they fixed it in their last patch or so, especially maps like gilroys harbor, where it was either instant win or instant lose

Wait wait wait... Are you telling me the Soviets will pick up weapons? Oh boy. So there are fixes now? I haven't been playing a while. It sucks the Wehrmacht just can't stand massive numbers. Wonder what the Osteer'll look like.

Last time I played they don't pick any weapons. I played as the spam.. I mean Soviet...

I didnt know if it was possible myself until I played as'the spam' (its funny cause its true), and started seeing that little hand/glove icon over dropped weapons such as lmg42's, 'shrecks, bars, brens, etc. What they cant do is re-crew heavy weapons, as mentioned before its a relic bug with a new race, so for the moment, as 'the spam', no recrewing empty pits/cannons/mortars/mgs, etc.

I just hope the ostheer will have buildable trenches...its about time that the wehrmacht should get a proper defensive doctrine.

Ohhh... I read in the official site of EF that "soldiers of the spam will not pick up the dirty German weapons and because they break down easily!"

Yeap thats what it said... Well most of it.

Come to think of it, I never really tried to get the MG42s.

Probably the reason why relic isn't making or prolly debating about the Eastern Front is the placement of the Red Army. They're not allied right? Sure the U.S helped them out but are do they fight alongside the Allied Forces? They'd probably need to make another game or a option to switch factions.

Anyways, I'm not saying the MOD is bad but I ponder what will it look like if the guys that made COH made the EF? Surely it will be much different. Less likely to spam. (P.E in AI control though is like the Soviets, spam me some Falschirmjager and Hetszer!)

Well I hope they issues get fixed. I wonder how the modders are holding up. Do they get paid or get something in return?

Yeah I remember reading all the available information about the mod before they even released it...I though it was a load of rubbish about that non-capturing/recrewing issue they posted, considering how all 4 other factions can recrew/pick up weapons , but then I read how it was actually all about the mod team having to argue for coding rights from relic about letting them recrew heavy weapons that relic owns the rights to that coding and stuff...so I guess I can see what they mean by that...hopefully theyll get their rights and get rid of that nonsense. But at least for the moment you can 'pimp out' your spam with dropped squad weapons...better than nothing I guess...and I love those 'heavy mortars'...especially capturing one of those things when playing as wehr/pe..more like a small version of artillery , since they can damage tanks and stuff...crazy... And yes , the soviets are considered allies. Ive had agame or 2 where I played as the spam and a friend of mine played as americans to build all those OP's for increased resource gathering....now that was OP. And if you notice, one of their ai coders is sweeten , the lead designer of the normandy 44 mod, so the EF mods ai coding is vastly improved...easy ai is normal , normal is hard..hard is expert..and expert is...dont even go there..... and no they dont get paid at all, (which is a shame, its really a well made mod, I would have paid them if they made a dvd-game box), the whole mod is completely free of charge , though they are accepting donations for some sort of medical cause of some sort. What thewy DID do was bring back a lot of bored relic players who have given up on coh, back to try it out , when the mod was released , I remember reading that at one point there were 12,000 relic players logged on coh cause of the mod and that relic actually had server problems becuase of so many people logging on at the same time. http://community.companyofheroes.com/blog-post/company-heroes-weekend-server-slowdowns this was around the same time when/after EF was released , so no coincidence there :)
