Seriously! what is it good for? The King tiger is the most expensive doctrine bonus of all the wehrmacht and irreplaceable BUT Allied AT guns brittish or american alike rape it in 5 seconds without it having barely change to fire back (not that it would hit anything) and it's too slow to drive away from them. it's also practically useless against infantry which makes it easy target for Rangers and Airborne and due to it's slow speed and undermined main cannon flanking it with 2 or more tanks doesn't even break a sweat.

Yes it's not suppose to be invincible killing machine but it could be a murderous land fortress against soft vehicles and tanks like marders, so there would actually need some tactic and thinking how to bring it down. (or just overrun it with infantry) But right now it feels like it's main purpose is to draw fire and destroy soft vehicles like Jeeps and bren carries while all the actually useful tanks like Stuh's do all the work.

I agree the King tiger is way to weak, i attempted to take on a pershing, pershing just drove behind and with it being slow the turning took ages, the pershing fired 2 rounds to the back and it was gone! The kt should have been able to destroy before it got behind it,but most of the rounds bounced off or missed.

Thats why you never send them out alone. They need to go in atleast teams of 3. I generally situate 1 KT with 2 panthers and a panzer or two. It's all about strategy. The KT along with all modern(ish) tanks have shitty rear armor. So they can easily be taken down with a few hits to the back.

Its fair enough yes they will need supprort and the balancing issue i can understand, if they didnt balance it out the kt could destroy and entire base with ease(i usualy take 2 otswinds and 1 panzer IV)

From a historical stand point, the KT was RARELY seen. 487 were built. So if you were riding around in the German country side, you would be more worried about getting picked off by a Panther than a KT. I will admit that the makers of CoH have the KT's specs messed up. It's faster than it is in the game, it's turret can turn faster, it's more agile than what it is, etc. etc. But it was more of a long range platform than a close range gun platform like the Panzers/Panthers. It's 88mm gun could easily pick off a M4 sherman before it even got into effective range.

I don't know about you guys, but a KT has the ability to turn the tide around, just let it sit behind units pounding everything else to oblivion. In this game, the KT is not meant to be a super assault tank that can destroy everything, it is more of a powerful support tank. That's when the tank really shines.

Oh, there was an instance where my badly damaged KT was retreating and was destroying the units in pursuit. Pretty awesome.

It's all about how you use it in combat.

Ever since i kept losing by sending it in first i send 2 oswinds in to take infantry and the kt behind them to take out the armour,it might not be right but its worked for me.

Yeah, let's leave historical discussions aside, especially as this seems to be more strategy-orientated. As said above, the KT cannot be used alone, you need other armour supporting it, and a good infantry screen. Generally an Ostwind and a PzIV or Panther along wiht a couple of Volks and Gren squads make up a good assault force. The thing with the King Tiger is, it should be used either as a damage soak or as a long range support tank. Don't forget it's propaganda value either, lower level and inexperienced players see a KT and shit themselves, directing all their anti-tank firepower at it and rush their infantry towards it. If you then likewise move your infantry up to take on their at guns and armour, and use your ostwind and other tanks to take on their infantry and tanks, you can blast through most of their army and push on to their base reletively unmolested, and you'll porbable only lose the KT... not even that if you keep Pios repairing it.
