This is a general question for sure. I really enjoyed the Normandy campaign in COH. The Campaigns in OF are great also. I'm glad for all the skirmishes available from all you creators out there...thanks! Without your maps, it would be like the end of an excellent book. My question is; does Relic ever plan to make available add-on or expansion pack campaigns for either platform? It seems to me their would be plenty of interest. I would gladly shell out the money for a few more campaigns.
What say you?
the general concensus is there will be at least one more expansion pack, but since they are trying to introduce new ways to get veterancy and new effects/features to the game, i'd say when they run out of major factions, or ideas for new effects and features that the game can handle, then they'll probably drop it, maybe release some extra campaigns before moving onto whats next. I seems to remember Relic once saying that they planned on covering every major theatre of the war, but i can see that being difficult balance-wise, especially when trying to balance 1940-41 armies to the 1944-45 armies ingame ATM. Not to forget the Pacific would be difficult to do right (or at all)without heavy modifications to the game engines, and the fact that they started the game with 1944, they must'nt plan on doing early war armies and theatres.
actually im wagering that they'll have 2 different "stand alone" faction games such as what you said lethal, having the 1941 armies battle only against themselves while the 1944 armies duke it out with themselves.
Well...what other viable theatres could they introduce? Japan/China/US Russia/Germany British/US/Afrika Korps Italy/US Not much else...
it would be easy for them to do both faction sides. i.e. a Germany vs Russia campaign then you can play the revers Russia vs Germany. Its sort of an uncreative idea but would add some expanse to the game.
Maybe they could create another set of linked "missions" within the current offering. Basically I am thinking within OF lets say, have another string of missions that can be grouped into chapters. It seems like it would be a natural progression. In OF, the two new "campaigns" are actually referred to as chapters. I think it would be logical and a money maker for Relic to release chapters 3-5 as a expansion pack or add-on. It would not require any real change to the core game engine, and they could sweeten the deal with additional features within the existing armies such as armor, weaponry, special abilities, etc.
Personally, i'd like to see the pacific if only for a change of scenery.
A PAC campaign would be fun but would you think that would add ships, or just land units doing island hopping?

I would like to see Russian/German, US/Jap, and North Afrika campaigns. Not much to do in Italy, the Italian army would have special "surrender and switch sides" ability. A Pacific island hopping campaign would be sweet, carting troops around by landing crafts. Ships would be tough, unless you only call in fire, reinforcemens, or planes from them. Relic could just release downloadable missions like Ensemble did with age of empires. I think there is tons more that could be done with this franchise.
I personally wouldn't pay just for 2-3 more campaigns, not at the $60 that OF retailed at, matter of fact i wouldn't pay $40 for it, and any less wouldn't be worth THQ's money. As i've said repeatebly, you've got maybe a 5% chance of getting a pacific expansion, and thats being optimistic. A lot actually happened in Italy, and if you have it start off as wholy Italian forces, with them slowly being supplemented by german armour as the campaign progressed, it would be really good and historically accurate. Hey, remember there are "ships" in the game already in the US campaign when taking Cherbourg(sp?). Granted their actually not ingame, but more the story with just abilities being useable ingame, but thats all you can really hope for with the current engines in the game. And Air, the whole downloadable missions things, besides being massive files to download, it wouldn't be profitable at all, and i'd bet it probably cost THQ $1M to get each campaign in OF from drawing board to the polished, finished product. Not to mention if they charged a credit card when you downloaded it like EA did with their BF2 booster packs, so many people wouldn't download them as the net (no matter how secure the site it) isn't really save for uploading you credit card details, not to mention all the little kiddies who don't have credit cards and whom their parents wouldn't trust them with $50 let alone their credit cards.
