n0e seems to like it a lot... :D I only run steam to play, but I never keep it running. Often after I play HL2 or CS my internet connection fails and I have to restart the computer to get it back working. Annoying and time consuming.

Well Steam is Shit, why not just keep all game updates in one place so everyone knows where they are :naughty: For example keep all the game files on FileFront ??? :naughty: Then everybody is happy

STATEDSorry guys but steam is crap. It takes ages to load and it just gets in the way whats the point of it when you have a good enough game client " Game Spy" ?:moon:

Steam is about 1000000000000000x better than anything associated with gamespy. Unless you love looking at ads for EA's latest games and not finding any good game servers roll%20eyes%20%28sarcastic%29.gif Of course steam has its problems, but atleast valve are trying to make something which is good for the gamer and good for the developers. Give it a couple of years and we will be seeing alot more applications like steam, but by then steam will be polished, bug free and an all round excellent content delivery system. It allows valve to provide many small updates to fix problems. These would normally all be released in one big upgrade every month or so. Also extra game content and even whole extra games can be aquired with minimal effort. I wish people would just shut the hell up with 'steam sucks' topics and see how revolutionary and, for want of a better word, great it is.

They do? Mine take about 5 minutes. Sometimes I don't even know what it exactly updated...

...You must never play if you don't notice downloads. Mine are only slow due to the fact that I'm always on at the time of the update, so every other computer in the world is downloading the update with me. It took like an hour to download the one before last.

No, its not that I don't notice them, I usually just close the window soon after it opens at times, so I have no idea what got updated. Later on I usually check it to figure out what the update was. That April Fool's Update was pretty funny though.
