I continue to struggle with the my ShrubET servers running smooth with addtions of maps. If I pack up the maps into bundles, mappacks, so have overall fewer .pk3 in the ETMAIN of the server I can put a lot more maps in without the server issues.

The issues are clients and maybe the server itself have difficulty switching maps. It appears to try to load and reload with an occational final load. Often time you can reconnect and get in.

Anyone else have this issue. I am attempting to run more maps and the only solution I have come up with is to pack files into big .pk3 mappacks. This means the clients will have to download these regardless whether they have the maps inside or not.

Here is a post from Splashdamage. It appears that this is a problem and no one has an answer, other than possibly pack up maps into big files. http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6394

ya it's a nasty bug that effects RTCW & ET now. I know when I was in a clan we had problems w/ it on our server, not sure if IRON suffers from this bug on our ET server I'll have to ask him...

It appears that its not really the memory size, how much file memory, but the number of .pk3 files in the ETMAIN directory.

The limit looks to be near 20, so generally less than 20 will have no problems. This cound includes all .pk3 files in the Server's ETMAIN directory. This is why packing up the map files into a few large packs works.
