i was just wondering ..for my et i will be getting more RAM i already have 128mb , if i get another 128mb will that make it 256mb or will it just be the same what do you reccomend :agreed: :deal: :agreed:
absolutely go to 256 I could tell a big difference between my loading times I have a old pc...
1ghz p3 & that extra 128 helped out
so what your saying is that i should buy an extra 256mb of ram instead of an extra 128mb of ram
not neccassarily just add another 128 & you'll be fine
DragonFlynot neccassarily just add another 128 & you'll be fine
Ummm no, bad idea. It's recommended that you don't use more than 75% of your overall RAM as can make your computer crash.
'cos stuff like system idle & background programs need ram too.
I have herd tha your comp can use memory from the HD as ram though if needed so you may be alright just getting a 128 ram instead of buying a 256.
Never had problem w/ my machine crashing unless you installed bad ram & it's the easiest & probably cheapest upgrade you can do. I believe everybody you talk to would recommend you go from 128 to a total of 256 it would seriously help. Getting memory form your hd (virtual memory) is what's a bad idea it takes quite a bite of free space on your drive not to mention
This is off a computer hardware website...
The more RAM you put into your machine the better it should run. You should see quicker response times to your requests and most importantly of all, is the fact that it saves your hard drive from doing a lot of extra work, making it last longer. If you do not have sufficient RAM within your machine your computer will use the hard drive. Just notice the hard drive light when you are running your machine. If it seems to light up with almost anything that you do, that is a clear indication that you have insufficient RAM memory. Continual use of your machine in this fashion, over time, puts extra wear and tear on your hard drive that could otherwise be avoided by having enough RAM memory. Your computer should only use the hard drive when it needs to save something or retrieve something
Well, From my past experince...256DDR was'nt cuttin it.
And my buddy is runnin 256DDR and his is runnin choppy too sometimes.
IMO 512 should be the perfect amount to run ET and several other FPS games.
I said the hell with it and went out and bought a 512 stick tho' what sucks is that i only have 2 ram slots and i had to TAKE OUT a 128 stick to add the 512...Ghey, But it runs great with the current 768DDR.
