It amplifys the games realism 10 fold. If the sound is at a realistic level the whole game experience becomes much more enjoyable, as well as nerve racking. I was on one of the ealy missions taking out the flak guns. I got pinned in a tiny corner with machine gun fire screaming by. My knees started shaking! It was so amazing! Just be ready to have your ears ringing afterwards. Play on Veteran difficulty to!

Not to brag. I have a turtle beach 5.1 sound card and a six speaker 5.1 sourround sound system and the sub woofer just shakes my desk by the machine gun fire. Now i can hear everything while on mp/sp like ambient sound etc etc. I have the center speaker and the subwoofer on my desk and the other 4 speakers on the wall hanging. Sound like its a movie theater in my room. EVen watching dvd's it sounds so real.

Does COD support 5.1?

I would think so. IT works fine for me. I play other games like IL2 mohaa and SH and bf1942 and all the sounds i couldnt hear before i hear em. IE: machine gun fire, rifle fire, soldiers screaming MEDIC! WHen playing stalingrad sp i just love to hear everything when rushing up the hill and finding cover. It shakes my desk and most of the time i have to turn it down so my kid wouldnt wake up from the noise. You want a good sound card and syste, buy a turtle beach sound card and a 5.1 sound system. YOu wont be dissapointed. Why spend over $300 for sound when i paid only $79 for my speaker system and its better then over priced sound systems i have had in the past.

I'm going to have to agree with Raven26. Nothing beats Call of Duty with surround sound with a sub woofer

Geez, that will ruin your ears! I never play any music at full volume (unless i dont want to hear some people).

I would not reccomend what he is suggesting!

i just wanted to make the game more realistic. and it does! yes it would hurt your hearing over a prolonged period of time. but an hour every once in awhile? probably not.

heh, i use headphones in aa and i instantly noticed that i could hear footsteps(b4 i could not, i have a 2.1 setup) and you can hear things clearer in cod with headphones if you are like me and havent gotten a turtle beach card yet. and yes, headphones can ruin your hearing if used at full volume.
