krazy_kider... it is the n00b gun of all time. way too accurate (and thats saying something!) way too much damage, and way to fast of a rate of fire. n00bs just run around firing a constant spray of bullets, hosing down anyone who gets in their way. uber annoying. uber n00ber.

hence, the names n00b cannon, n00b hose, n00b gun, uber n00ber doper hoser gun, and, my favorite, the ppshit. They may have fixed some of these problems in UO, but I dont know because I havent played it. uber doober krazy... kid tootles
No such thing as a "noob gun". Sorry. It's in the game because it was in the war. As for it being accurate in the game as you say...

BLECH! Hogwash. It is in fact, the least accurate weapon in the game. I scratch my head wondering how you could say such. Oh! I see! You've never used it in the game at distances of more than 20 ft.! Now I see.
Is it true that they've reduced some of the PPSH-41 characteristics in United Offensive, such as Accuracy/bigger recoil/less stopping power etc?

It's actually true for every weapon in the game.

5thSS_SteinerI'm not against call of duty having smg's such as the thompson or the ppsh, what I am against however is the view infinity ward have taken of these weapons, I mean in some cases you can actually snipe effectively with the thompson and ppsh. Its also a spoiler when you go onto a server and everyone has a smg and are running around like lunatics spraying everything that moves, I think before IW can claim this as the most realistic WW2 game they are going to have to fix this and fast.

You aren't seeing the whole picture. If they made SMG's as innacurate in the game as they are in real life, nobody would use them, and the playability of the game would be crippled as everyone would use a rifle. There would be no variety or enjoyability to the game anymore.

There are many things to consider when making a game!

You obvisouly don't know much about the PPSh41 and its uses... It was developed from the Soumi SMG, a Finnish submachine gun with a rate of fire of about 900 RPM. The Soviets captured some, and redesigned them so that they would be less complicated, but perform as well.

The PPSh41 in CoD is more realistic than any other PPSh41 I have seen in any other game. It has a high ROF, is inaccurate, and fires a low caliber round of Soviet pistol ammo. Literally millions of them were produced, and the Soviets equipped entire batallions who would charge ahead and clear out German positons before the unlucky bastards with Nagants and PPs43s came up.

If you want to see total noobish useage of the PPSh41, get Battlefield 1942's best mod, Forgotten Hope You can snipe with that thing while running and jumping. I am also pretty sure that, if you hit in the correct spot, it can take out a Panther D.

Almost nothing you have said in on topic. However, as I said, in the game, the Shpagin is far far far less accurate than in real life, and many other weapons in games are far more realistic when it comes to accuracy. Don't believe me? Load the game and shoot at a wall with different weapons. You will see the ridiculous spray of the Sphagin in the game. No weapon on earth spreads anywhere near that much. None.

So, have you ever shot one? Not in the game, i mean in real life. The people who made CoD probably didnt even shoot half of the weapons they have in the game. For example, the bren: The thing is heavy as a bitch in real life, yet in cod you can keep it level with the ground, while standing and looking through the sight, with no support, and it wont even move. The normal soldier can not do that, maybe the governer of california, but not an average person. Or the ppsh: if you shoot it and actually have control over it, the gun wont go all over the place, same goes for mostly any sub-machine gun. In real life, if you hold down the trigger for more than a few seconds you will be shooting in the sky, but you shouldnt do that. In real life you shoot in bursts that last maybe a 1 or 2 second. A second of firing for the ppsh wont cause you to shoot all over the place, and a few rounds of pistol ammunition will drop your enemy just as soon as a bullet from a rifle will. Here is a breif summary of the ppsh41: The PPSh-41 was developed to replace expensive machined PPD-34. Reliable and cheap, it filled roughly the same niche as MP40, Sten and M2 carbine, but was issued in greater numbers. Its drum magazine holds 71 rounds (Tokarev 7.62x25 aka Mauser .30). Later, 35-round stick magazines became more common.

Well hell, that is the shooters fault. AFAIK, we were talking about the devs making it perform better than it did in real life.

In cod the ppsh goes all over the place when you shoot it, its no worse in real life. Esp. at the ranges you shoot in CoD.

In real life the PPSh gun introduced in 1943 was one of the most mass-produced weapons of it's era. The gun was easily made and was universal and light. The ammo used in the PPSh were Pistol bullets, like you would find in a Luger or Colt.45. In the game the Recoil of the PPSh is high but if you aim down the sight and fire continuosley the recoil stops and starts to fire in a straight line. Try it yourself. I used this technique many times and it does the trick :) The problem is, no one ever uses this gun in semi-automatic mode. Just like any other gun, if you aim for their head in semi-automatic mode and fire, you'll get a head shot and instant kill. TRY IT! IT WORKS!
