Whenever I Create A Server, by hiting the 'Create a server' button on the main menu, no one can come in. When you host your own server do you have to do anything special in order to allow people to come in?

if you are playing on the internet--not through connected computers--you want sv_lan set to 0... make sure you are entering this in the console (assuming you didn't know to) -- In 1.6 i always had to wait about 3 min after typing sv_lan 0 just for my server to appear on other peoples' server lists. And the default is sv_lan 1. -- You can always edit your cstrike/cfg files if you want your server to start with[e.g: sv_cheats 1, mp_friendlyfire 0, cl_ragdoll_collide 1, etc.] this just makes it easier for you, not having to enter all of these commands every time u create a server. *i dont use a router, so have someone else explain things to you about them* To open ports as crash mentioned, go to this location from your desktop: Start/ControlPanel/NetworkandInternetconnections/WindowsFirewall {new window appears} then click the "Exceptions" tab... You should then see a list of programs that require open ports. near the bottom of the window there should be an "Add Port" button, click this. {new window should appear} Enter a name (name has no effect) i suggest the name "hl2" although it doesnt matter at all. below should be a second textbox, here you enter the port number: 27015 ...and below that should be 2 fillable circles that indicated the port type: TCP & UDP.... im almost sure its TCP. If this doesnt work then repeat the process just changing the port type to UDP. If this doesnt work then i just wasted 25 minutes typing this entire procedure :D
