Hi, I'm a "bunny hopper" I guess, as it seems to refer to someone who jumps a lot. I wouldn't say I'm a 100% hopper, as I only hop to dodge or surprise... I don't hop to try and get more speed when running across open areas. Maybe you should have another name for those kinds of hoppers... "Kangaroos" ? I realize for people who like to sneak and snipe (or those want to feel like they're in a WW2 simulator), "hoppers" are a pain, but that is only one side of the coin. Granted this a WW2-themed game, but it is also a modern-day computer multiplayer game as well... and it has many elements which are unrealistic (for WW2), but are required to make it a feasible multiplayer game. For example, everyone drops a health box and you magically re-gain health. Or the whole thing about "respawning". Contrary to popular belief (?), hopping tactics are actually SKILLED tactics. Don't confuse scraed jumping newbies with hoppers. People complain about it because they can't do it themselves! Jumping and shooting down enemies at the same time is obviously a bit more difficult than standing still and shooting them, no? And hoppers get the high kill/death ratios not because of hopping, but because of the MG's. PPSH, MP40, Thompson... hello. You want them to patch them out? Nothing you can do. But really, it all depends on the map. Some of you shouldn't put your hopes so high with this patch... it won't stop hopping at all. It may reduce it... or rather... change how they hop, but it'll still occur. We all don't know for sure what features they will implement to combat "hopping", but let's look at the obvious: -Reducing accuracy while jumping: Moot. Because most succesfull hopping is done in close quarters (e.g. around a corner) and being so close, accuracy is always good. -Stamina bar: Big deal, successfull hopping is done only in key situations... plenty of time for the bar to recharge. The surprise corner hop is sometimes all that's needed... one hop. -Reducing jump height/distance: This would make a bit of difference Anyways, guys with MG's will still get the high ratios. Question: What is DoD, and AAO, and why do people compare them to Call of Duty so much? Question: Why do people say "This is a No-CS server"? I guess CS means "Counterstrike"? It seemed like they meant no hoppers/mg'rs. That made me laugh... because for years I thought of CS as the sniping/sneaking kinda game (I'm a Quake player). Anyways, I have no problems with CoD MP. I have fun every night cleaning up with high frags and low deaths. I go with MG all the time, but if I see a rifle I will pick it up. It all depends on the map. Most annoying map: Brecourt (ANNOYINGGGG).

Ok, But what you really have to look out for is the guys that 'jump' in the air and go prone while they're in the air, then stand back up and 'jump' and go prone again in midair. That may seem hard, which it is, but the enemy will have trouble shooting you. No one does this, but I always like doing it when I was screwing around. It worked good to.

I think hoppin' is silly myself, but just because i do not do it, one good jump to get out of the way, or as earlier posted, to come around a corner fast is fine in any respects, the only hoppers i do not like are the ones that hop the entire game because they would rather hop around the boards than to look for potential enemy threats in the distance, i feel a good patch would allow the first jump normal, and all jumps afterwards to be shorter and not as far, till no jump can be achieved for a period of time(stamina bar like said before), but that is all i have to say about it, end rant....

I would still like to see you strap an 80 pound backpack on you and be able to fire a BAR accurately for a half hour straight. And the going prone while in midair has got to stop. Your spinal column you end up crushed landing flat like that, plus those 80 pounds gaining speed, only to be stopped violently by your back...

Taken from Gamespy.com We've reduced how well you can bunny hop.  We've made the sniper rifles more realistic to act more like how a real sniper rifle would behave.  We made it so the number of grenades you start with is based on the weapon you select. We added unique player IDs, which are based on your CD key and made it so that server admins can ban players using that ID. We really changed too much stuff to list here, if you want to know more, check out the .readme.

Bunny Hopping a skilled tactic? Bunny hopping is for the non skilled. Its a cheap way of winning. Its like in some older fighting games I used to play. You could back a guy into a corner and just keep using the same attack on him until he dies and he can't do anything back. Is that a tactic? Or just plain cheap?

Bunny Hopping is not a skilled tactic, it is just cheap.

I've seen this topic for millions of times. Bunny hopping, the good way, and in the bad way. In a good way, you can get snipers' crosshairs off your back. In a bad way, snipers complains that it's irritating and no skills applied at all. What, playing games need skills? It's just plain shooting the hell out of someone. If you want to talk about skills, okay, fine. Prove to me that you are strong player to take down bunny hoppers without breaking a single sweat. That's what I call skills. If you can't, get the hell out of the server and start training yourself through newbies, or replay the entire single-player campaign. Bunny hopping isn't all that bad. When you are under attack by unknown shooters from afar, what's your first reponse? Definitely start diving behind a wall or confuse your enemies through the bushes. Running isn't gonna get you anywhere beside wounds from your enemies' shots. So, the last move you should use is bunny hopping. And for GravityKillz, No Bunny Hopping = Complete Bullet-Magnet Idiot. So I repeat, bunny hopping is not illegal. Though annoying, it shall only be used as your last move.
