I shall be getting a job, soon, raking in about $800 a month, that I won't be spending on anything. I've decided to update to a new PC - I want to be able to run Crysis on very high quality, DX10, while still sparing a lot of power.

The only source I know of to get a good enough PC is Ebay - but they seem to be lacking right now.

Any ideas?

PS: I don't want to custom build. I am not experienced enough.

Well man, I hate to say it but there probably isn't a PC in the world that can handle all DX10 and run it smoothly. Of course that doesn't stop me from running everything on high lol. I know a friend that's running SLI'd 9800's on the quad core processor and loaded with an un-godlike amount of ram to back it up. And of course Crysis still isn't happy. This is a perfect example to show that Crysis is still just a little ahead of itself. The game engine is flawed, so don't blow your paychecks on a machine thats not going to do exactly what you want.

Weird - I saw a video of three way SLI of 9800s playing it at 30 FPS, with no noticeable problems.

I need to wait 2 or 3 months to raise sufficent funds - I just want to know what I'm buying, before I start to raise money.

Let's pretend I have an unlimited budget, here. Once I'm earning, it'll be more or less $1000 a month, and I shan't be spending it on anything else, and 100% will go towards my fund. I would have thought, in two or three months, I could get the latest in computers.

What should I be aiming for, if I want maximum potential for the future, or maximum performance in Crysis?

I don't know about those pre-built systems, from all of the pre-built systems I've seen in my entire life, i don't know if even 5% of them could handle Crysis, especially on maxed out settings. If I were you, then I would get a wish list for a custom build, show it to the guys(and gals) down there at Tech Discussion and then if they say it's all compatible and will work on games like Crysis and all those, then get a computer service to build it or a person who you are in kuhootz with who knows how to build it for you and can build it for you and then take it to them and let them handle it... Then again I really haven't seen any good computers on eBay...

I've been looking at Alienware - but the problem with them, is the price is really bloated, due to being a big brand. It's like buying jeans for £50, when you can get a pair equally as good for £5. :/

I guess I'll just have to earn the money, and keep my eyes open. It'll take my 4 months to earn £4000, so maybe, by then, a CPU/GPU will be released that can run Crysis on very high.

If you care about saving money, make it yourself. Pre-built rigs are OK but they're always very overpriced, esp the "gaming rigs." It's not that hard to build it yourself. Try getting your hands dirty and if you run into problems, post on the Tech Disc boards.

It's so much about saving money - it's just I found Alienware to be very expensive. For 3 9800s in SLI, with a 4 GHz Quad Core, it cost £4000, yet for a 3GHz Quad Core, with the same GPU set up, It was merely £900. Granted, it was without the blu-ray drive - but I fail to see how it would up the price that much.

Forgive me, I'm tired. I shall have a look tomorrow, when I'm able to think clearly.

You'll need 3 gb's of HDDR RAM, a quad 2ghz+ processor, an Nvidia 8800 GTX 512 MB graphics card, and anything else that's heavy duty and bound to be worth your soul more or less.

The new 9800s are being phased out very quickly, and the 8800 GTX is being replaced by the GT260/280 series. Currently, I believe, only the GT280 is out. The GT280 is the new BIG and POWERFUL videocard, it is the new topdog. The drivers are in beta I believe and the 3870X2 still gets slightly better FPS when running Crysis but it's not like a big difference, esp when you realize how much better performance will be when the drivers are stable.

Check it out here... Newegg.com - GTX 280

When it comes down to $400, I'll get one but it's not worth it to run just Crysis for this $650 videocard, that's insanity.

Then get it for running bioshock and the entire orange box all at once.
