I just got a new PC about a week ago. It runs COD4 fine and other games but i have a low FPS with crysis.

System Specs: CPU:AMD Phenomâ„¢ X4 9650 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology Motherboard:Biostar TA790GX A2+ Memory:GB (2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory Graphics Cards: Two ATI Radeon HD 4850 PCI-E 16X 512MB Video Cards W/ Crossfire

I am getting about 15-25 average FPS on Med at 1400x900. I know this can do better so it is pissing me off. I am also on Driver 8.12. Any help will be appreciated.

What operating system are you using? I am having this problem also, but my PC used to handle it before I reformatted and reinstalled Windows. Maybe try to update windows.

In the world of gaming ( now ), there is no more " my system runs blah blah game, why can't it run this?" The engines have become more sophisticated and demanding.

Crysis: this is nothing new. The game has ALWAYS given people with " uber" systems an issue. Just because you can run COD4 doesn't mean you can run crysis. The game is just a bear to run.

You may want to check your drivers. Not to mention check out bios updates for your Mobo. To be honest, it may be because you have a quad core that you are having this issue. Try setting the affinity down.

Yeah i'll go along with that

had 2gb of ram found a little stuttering

put in another 2gb and no stuttering and load time halved

Crysis is just a good program for a benchmark waste of time more a tech demo than anything.

That really weird. I have one Visiontek Radeon 3850 AGP 512 mb card with 2 gig ram and a Pentium 4 and I don't have any lag problems on high except with mass AI numbers(20 or 30 at most is what I can take).

I hear that the reason Crysis requires such ridiculous hardware to run it on the highest settings is because Crytek suck at optimization... I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it sounds plausible to me...

It could also have something to do with Nvidia having at advertisement thing right before Crysis's main menu...

You have to keep in mind, that Crysis is EXTREMELY demanding game and that it runs at 20-40 fps on 4870X2, q6600@3,8GHz @ 1920x1200. However, you could try going through Improving performance section @ www.lowfps.com

One thing that sounds similar to I problem I had of the same kind was that my video card hardware setting were jacked up all maxed out, when put on the lowest settings frame rate went up some what higher. I also set high priority on cpu settings on too. That's my two cents on your problem from what hasn't been said.
