You know the loading screens that you see when u load of CSS, the one where u can click:
Find Server Create Server
How do you make the background images?
Here, click on this link. I tried it out but for some reason my Vtex.exe didn't work right, but that could just be me. Your's will probably work just fine. Click here!
Actually I just found out a much easier, faster way how to do it. Download a program called "INpact CSS Hud Tweaker" that allows you to change your CS: Source HUD colors. But it also gives you the ability to choose one of three pre-made Source menu backgrounds that came with it. So what you need to do is copy the .JPEG image you want as the background and paste it in the "\INpact_CSS_Hud_tweaker_1.x\data\menu_background" folder. ('x' is the version number). Now what you need to do is rename your pic to either: "INpact_wallpaper_01" "INpact_wallpaper_02" or "INpact_wallpaper_04" and just rename the originals to something else. Download INpact CSS Hud Tweaker here! And there you go! That should have done it. If not, post back in here and I'll see if I can help you.
does this allow me to put it up for download so that other people can download it? and see it without having to use the hud tweaker?
Well, the Hud tweaker itself is specifically designed for changing the hud colors, but all I did was exploit what it thought it was supposed to do. By renaming that file to one of the three, it automatically converts the image to .vtf format (if it isn't already). Now when you go into CS: Source itself, it should have your backgorund. You don't need to have to hud tweaker open at the same time. Just download and install the tweaker and you'll see what I mean. Hit the "Modify CS: Source menu" button on the bottom right and click which of the *three backgrounds you want. If you renamed it right, yours will be one of the three. Then hit apply to "CS: Source". Now if you want to put it on the internet, you could use FileFront's "Manage Files" thing and upload it there or just post it on another website. Be sure to put it in a Zip folder with instructions on how to install it. To find where your new background is, goto "\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\console" and it should be there (at least that's where mine went). Combine those two files with your readme and your good to go! Here's a screenshot of mine!
righty cheers i'll get onto that asap...
thanx you've been a great help!
