The reason Tau have no turrets is because in the lor, and the table top game (none of which I had much knowledge of prior, DC is my first exploration into the DOW universe) they don't view structures incapable of being held as worth holding, meaning they don't defend unless they have to, they just keep moving back from one base to another while constantly taking areas and building bases. The problem with this in the game is simply that bases in general take a long time to build and are (with the necron exception) defenseless, and the build cost doesn't help much either... or the starting units (fire warriors & tier one stealth suits) being next to useless. Don't get me wrong, stealth suits are great units, and can jet around taking points to help get resources going, but they can't defend at tier one, and if the enemy has a detection unit, then it's all for not because the Stealth suit has next to no health. At tier 2/3 Stealth suits become great units, I've used them many times to sneak into bases during attacks and reign hell, but this strategy only works against orks (hero not being present), necrons (assuming the wraith is off fighting) and sometimes Eldar (they don't build turrets as often) because every other race has unit revealing turrets.

Oh and if you by any chance are playing imperial guard and are having trouble with the necron lord at your base, build rocket turrets, he'll be knocked down too much to do anything, it's annoying as hell when you're using the necron lord though, it's like watching a punching bag.

What I would like to see is:

  • Krootox capped, nerfed, or made more expensive (why doesn't a rocket do much damage to an oversized ape like thing?)
  • Heavy Weapons Teams allowed to aim
  • Necron Warriors made a little worse perhaps, but not much (I can usually beat Necrons now :))
  • Imperial Guard made better, not really sure how, probably Guardsmen squads made cheaper, when upgraded they increase in cost? (Got the idea from the ork swarm mod in which Guardsmen are free to build and reinforce).
  • Make the Necron Lord not as tough, and make his teleport take 2 thirds of the bar?
  • Make Chaos Horrors reinforceable or a lot better, they rarely see combat
  • Make Chaos Projectiles make the Defilers artillery better, but make them more expensive? As it is apart from Necrons and Eldar (but they get Fire Prisms for disruption) Chaos the only race without decent artillery. Also Chaos Projectiles should make Chaos Predators stronger, they are very weak and cost a lot.
  • Possibly some more game types, such as survival or something.
  • Make Daemon Prince have more health or something, he is very expensive and not that good, also Bloodthrister not loose health when not in combat, or regenerates very fast whilst in combat.
  • Possibly remove tank caps, but leave the population at 5. This could encourage more variety (hopefully).

P.S. Dark_Reaper (#191) all I generally used nukes in Starcarft for was 2 simultaneously to destroy bases. It was fun in Brood War when you captured SCV and Drones with Dark Archons :)

*hugely off topic* Yeah nukes were hilarious I got so good at the timing I could take out a whole group of wraiths or what ever the tier two figher of each race was on the move.which is really hard to do becuase they ar so fast

No no no when relic tries to fix all the bugs they end up nerfing a race. I think the overpopulation isnt really a bug though maybe some races should have more population like the tau. some races shouldnt have the 1 limit on 3rd tier infantry like the imperial guard maybe the limit should be 3 and you can choose any mix of units of kaskrin and ogryns that add up to 3 otherwise some races need pop cap higher.

Also they should just give anti tank weapon options to all units that are capable like imperial guard and chaos marines there lowly infantry should take tanks out and the tau path finders aswell not to mention the orks which need a big fix...

and the krootox i think its stronger than a dreadnaught so it needs a nerf

and also to note that the tau do have turrets well at forgeworld anyhow

Alright here we go, I have played dawn of war since the first one a way back and loved it; my favorite army? IG I play them on Tabletop as well. Imperial Guard- -sigh- it hurts to see these guys bugged, it really does as if they don't have it hard enough with the ridiculous cap restrictions on Kaskrin, ogryn, and Leman Russes, but now my HWT one of the guards most awsome and unique units can't hit the damn target I want it to, also they have little health plz give them atleast a 1000 only when entreached though. Give me 2 of kaskrin and ogryn, raise health a little on normal guardsmen since they get raped by almost all other armies squads, and lastly WTF is up with 5 cap on leman russes!? these things are the backbone of the IG army and always have been plz lower cap to 3 and give me atleast three leman russes Chaos- nothing wrong here deamon prince does not need more health sry chaos lovers but you already have bloodthirster and invisible chaose marines, but they could allow rockets back into the squads and take lame cap of 1 off possessed and obliterators maybe to 2 of each Orks- I love em, we all love them, and their back finnally restored to the ownage they once lost due to Winter Assault but plz take lame 4 cap off killa kans to like 2 becuz the ork army on Tabletop has always been able to feild a ton of killa kans and people always want this to be more like the tabletop so give them more but in contrast make them have less life to balance their numbers out Space Marines- all I ask is that you either take OB away or make it weaker because orbital bombardment is cheap, a Force Commander drops in and boom, bang ,bam my base is gone in one move......freaking great..yea many players say "just build another base" well another base just the HQ is around 500 to 700 req plus more to upgrade, add all the other buildings in case your whole base is detroyed and it all equals a big waste of my money. I liked my first base!! Let me spend money on troops and not on 3 bases because a cheap ass tactic plz Tau- OMFG!!!! for the love of god why don't these freaking beasts die!!! lascannons bounce off them, they eat missiles for breakfast, and why are they not capped. Krootox need some major balancing, there is no excuse, when I can kill a hammerhead gunship that has METAL ARMOR with 2 sentinals but I can't kill a krootox equally quick with 4 sentinals? WTH? oh and give these guys some turrets, broadsides are nice but they cost cap and can't see invisible units every other turret in the game minus eldar can see invisble and are buildings= no cap put more buildtime on krrot carnivore plz, kroot rushes hurt ;__; Necrons- 2 words LESS LIFE!!! these guys need less life and firepower or my fav idea simply make them weaker vs weapons made to take out heavy infantry, (auto-cannons and plasma guns) if I have 3 squads of guardsmen with all plasma guns I want them to be able to be on par with 2 necron warrior squads Eldar- these guys are perfect the way they are except the high cap on harlequins I would almost always rather build a warpspider squad or a banshee squad and also I hav missed the Dark reaper exarch shuriken launcher upgrade ever since the first DOW plz bring this back

I know the last post on this subject was ages ago yet as there hasn't yet been a patch for dark crusade as of yet and I am new to the boards I thought I would have my say.Currently I am one of 2 joint leaders in the SK clan, I have been in the FG clan and I have also been cpt_mraz and I have a few other long forgotten accounts on dc. I have played dc about 600 times odd online and so I hope people take on board my views on the balance issues. I alos play mostly on qs yet i do play on std a lot too.Necrons :are too powerful at the start. Warriors can be spammed out fast and insta win you the game. To fix this problem I believe warriors need to be downed yet the first and 2nd upgrade will increase their potential greatly.Flayed:Everyone complains about yet they are easily stopped. As crons have no good deepstriking tanks (such as dred equilivent) flayed are 2nd best and should be as good as they are. People that bitch about them use heavy bolters,dark reapers,plasma gaurd, firewarriors, slugga boyz etcWraiths:Need to be upped as they are far too weak in cc and health wiseNecron lord:He is meant to be good as all lords (bar imp gaurd) have some sort of evil bombardment or daemon thing going on. Having a lord with cool abilities isn't that bad. Also for those who complain about the nightbringer use knockdown weapons to stop him...if you don't you fully deserve to have your base ownedImmortals:Only good when stealthed. Good shooting abilities yet you usually take the warriors instead as they have far far better health and don't get owned. Immortals need a massive health boostPariahs:Like tt fun to have but really useless unless you are taking on a super unitTomb spiders:You can harvest bodies and make scarabs. Fun and balanced though I don't use them oftenDestroyer:Useful scouting unit as it can take a bit of firepower not heavy bolter firepower mind. Don't use these muchHeavy destroyers:Good against tanks and heavy armoured troops fun to use and work well. Are balanced as can be killed if correct units are used Lord destroyer:I have started to love these guys. Stop marine fc rush by holding him in place and blowing him into 10 million pieces. Nobody seems to use these. I love nicking fire prisms myself and turning them on eldar always a laughMonolith:Last but not least. People moan about these. I say for these people try a 1v1 of every super unit vs the lith. Who wins....my point is proven. These are not over powered it's that people have no idea what to do and cry a land raider will own a lith...back the raider up with 2 preds and 2 dreds takes about 10 seconds for the lith to die, chaos use preds,defilers,possessed and massed plasma fire, eldar avatar and fire dragone...people getting this yet. Liths are easy to beat but people are too lazy to kill them and instead sit there and complainLord abilities:Nightbringer:Use morale draining weapons to get rid of him faster or use grek knights on him etc. people stop being lazy and figure this out on your own.chronometron:never use because it's pointless for later tiernightmare shroud:fun again only useful for driving comps into your battle lineslightening field:good but doesn't do to much damdge phase shifter:I never sue as the wraiths one is broken in the same way....bombard them then they diephylactery:a must have for better repai....essentialress orb:get rid of it I don't care. I never use it because people just complain. The units that get back up are at 50% health if you can't deal with these then you are a noobveil of darkness:fun as it's passive. I rarely use my lord in combat as he's best served on the defence line stealthing your turretsNow I play games almost every day on dc and with friends of the same skill level my games last for hours (longest game being 17 hours straight crons vs marines after a 4 player ffa all was whittled down to 2 players).Crons are a good army but over all marines are easiest to use and easiest to win with (bar eldar rush at the start can't be stopped) marines bombard your base then dred drop then termie drop then bring up land raiders and preds then you have no base, eldar go to back of your base stealth theirs and keep running then assault you with mass everything, chaos stealthed guys with heavy bolters come in after bloodthirster owns your defence, tau out shoot your base defences they drone spam...people tell me is this right to win yes it is because all is fair in love and war. This is war people so get used to some armies being stronger in certain aspects and just deal with it. Find a way to counter it (if you can't don't bitch just play for fun or even ask for help).I am personally a cron player yet I use all other races and marines are a close 2nd along with eldar. In the next few days I will write totally about all armies and their balance issues. For me a few cron tweekings and stops people complaining. I am SK|Outsider currently and I am always on the lorn v boards from 7pm onwards most days so if you want a match to test these theories or even to ask me to teach you then feel free to ask.

they need to get open up the cap restrictions from 1 to possibly 2 or 3. Also...I was playing against the comp once...one squad of gaurdsmen with 3 plasmas took out an entire squad of chaos raptors... that should not be happening.
