Um i think i got the right name but i'm not sure. I'm referring hopefully to the map in the kronos campaign, where the player is given a set amount of units and must destroy all enemy buildings on the map.

Well ive played it a few times with differnt races and had varying success. As follows is a summary

Necrons : I got 2 monoliths .... GG right there pretty much. But yes also get a bunch of pariahs, tomb spiders (that can res and remake units) ect.. Big thing to note? MONOLITHS can build units , they can build scarabs and Nec warriors for FREE!!!. Doing this map was really just a matter of when not how.

Orks: I got 2 squig's , bunch of nobs and mega nobz. Alot of vech's which made it relatively easy to win. Basically it wasn't to hard to win as i had sheer units and power... 2 squig's made short work of most enemies anyway.

Eldar: I got the Avatar of khaine , 4! seer councils a bunch of fireprism's and wraith walkers. These are just the units i felt worth noting hah! i got plenty of firepower for this fight and it wasn't a walk in the park like necrons but it was still doable with a small honor guard.

Ok so whats my point in this? well in my first campaign i tried this as chaos. I tried on Hard and failed miserably several times even with full honor guards and Eliphas ascended. So i tried it on normal and still failed to win this map. Why?

Chaos: 1 daemon prince , few chaos pred's , 2 possessed. A few vech's probably on par with the others here. Some khorne bezerkers and some useless cultists.

Well lol , 1 daemon prince really doesn't go far. Im not sure why chaos was given such a hard time with this map but im curious if anyone here has actully managed to do it on hard? INFACT anyone done it on normal. Its probably possible on normal with a decent honor guard but by that stage you've already won kronos hah!.

Actually the eldar rundown seems on par with the Chaos one - the reason you don't get a bloodthirster is, that it looses health if not in combat.

what you should do with Chaos is use the Defilers and bomb the shit out ov the bases, roll your preds in first have them deal with the infantry and buildings, follow them with the Demon Prince and the 'zerkers to clean up whats left. The cultists should be used to capture the SPs while the Chaos Marines & 'zerkers defend them. I haven't done this mission for some time and at the moment I have the Firestorm Beta active, and my comp dies evertime I load that mission :bawl: so that is all I remember ov it.

Yeah, marshall summed it up nicely - chaos has a great bonus trough the artillery which not that many races have.

Remember Kitty I'm Chaos through and through, also being FF's resident Iron Warrior helps too. One last thing Defilers can rip the building apart in CC as well, just have the stance set to hold ground (the blue one) do this with all ov them (except the 'zerkers and DP) so they'll sit back and blow the bases to kingdom come. That's how to get the job done Iron Warriors' style :D

I think eldar and orks have the hardest hyperion peaks. since they lack the range.

On top of that, the orks also lack the maneuverabilityof the eldar.

The Eldar lack the stamina to fight, also they die too easy. The only thing they have is psychic powers, Fire Prisms, and the Avatar that is it. The orks only have the Squiggoth and mass numbers. All ov which can be cut down by focusing on each one, one at a time.

I tried it with Chaos on hard, and I almost did it, but the bastards cornered me in the middle. It was so annoying. I did do with SM though, and that was using my last two marine squads and uber micro.

Chaos is tough orks are the hardest, i believe, however, I took it on hard, with this, load up squiggoths w/ boyz and march them in, send in your killa kanz for anything crazy happenin to cover the boyz meanwhile have your squigs hit building your tank bustas takin out support and your boyz hittng infantry as it comes out. meanwhile your looted Russes are covering from the back. it worked for me anyway.

I played hyperion peaks on hard with chaos 4 times agianst Orks and lost 4 times, those useless cultists are a lath! However i had two daemon prince's as my lord had ascended and had most of my honor guards yet still got wiped out, not surprising really with two 2 squig's stomping me and then when i do kill them thay come back agane a few minuts later!!! Oh and shall i mention the looted leman russ tanks? 4 of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the hundred of orks in betwean. I only destroyed one base befor i was wiped out.
